I didn't like the Howie plugin tbh. I gave it a shot a few times, but doesn't stand up to TC Electronics Finalizer app. It's got way more options and can get louder and better.

Well, nearly every Company is guilty of that. CLA didn't sell his console when he made the Mixhub plugin but they still marketed it as fully equivalent to the real console.
Honestly I don't care about that, you slap a famous name on something to catch more attention, whatever.
What really sucks though are all those youtube producers (prodinfluencers?) who clog up my recommendations with their hilariously uncritical plugin "reviews" -.-

What is this talk about "new tech" from AA anyways, I haven't seen any articles about new tech in their development of these plugins, just "new plugins". Someone please link it to me if there is. With my own tests, using the new MacBook Pro M1 Pro 10 Core, all AA plugins still run like a pirated virus filled PC software from 2008. I don't understand this argument from AA users who praise the company and talk down on algorithm based plugins, it doesn't make you a better engineer. You're just a guy who bought or pirated a piece of software. if you want to put up with 3 second time delays between adjustments to hear the difference in your audio, that's cool, it's your choice, but I will take knowledge and speedy algo's over ego and slow software any day. This is not to say I'm better, my point is what you're using is never as important as how you use it.

    @ JB2404 -
    These are very correct thoughts!

Especially when you consider the fact that most users consider "Analog Sound" to be just tricky math.
BUT it is not so simple, some AA tasks are performed as superbly as possible!
    Also, don't underestimate their potential....))

Sorry, but these are just small sources of this story.
These are the most basic aspects to understand.
I just gave this example as a starting point.....

I think I just watched 20 minutes worth of something way ahead of me. Browsing his channel, a lot of that goes way over my head. That is some complex shit right there. You're a really smart dude, maybe you are a witch.

Nobody talks down on other companies. We are merely debating the state of the latest acustica plugins that have an upgrade in sonic realism.
Some of their plugins are very good, some very average, some totally overrated as with any company.

Hardware sounds quite better. The low end is where most plugins fail a bit, but also the mids and highs are more pleasant on the hardware, transients as well. You could probably get closer with some additional izotope processing.

The best is that YT reviewer paul third. Dummy is comparing a "real" fairchild over the internet vs acustica.
How do people even know its real gear trough online processing, they could be using plugins or some diy cheap stuff claiming its a fairchild.

Changing from OTB to ITB or viceversa is not a problem of sound, is mainly a problem of workflow. Scheps went ITB, Brauer went fully ITB, Ghenea went ITB 20 years ago - imagine that, 20 years ago one of the best mixing engineers in the world considered plugins good enough for him to do the job (and clients were happy).

If engineers chose one or the other, they will never tell you is because of the sound (unless they are paid to endorse something). The only people that discuss hardware vs software (or other pointless talks like 44.1 vs 96, TP limiter or regular limiter, crave eq or stock eq, aliasing or oversampling.......) are the amateurs, the rest are making music. We forgot that creativity relies on our limitation (limited set of tools, limited workflow etc) and not on specs.

And so far AA did not covinced me of their stuff. I don't care if it sounds identical like the compressor someone forgot in someone else's basement, I just want a good enough comp that doesnt take my entire cpu and comes with 4GB ofIR's attached to it
