I am looking to upgrade to an M1 Mac from my old 2012 imac, however, in reading about their new processors, I fear that most of my (mostly cracked) software will not be compatible with it.

Are silicon native programas getting cracked? is it harder to do, and therefore, less likely? Under every mac VST on Audioz lately, I see long discussions about the mac piracy community dying and cracks becoming more scarce. Is this true?

Furthermore, will the intel plugins that I have installed on my current mac work on an M1 mac, using rosetta?

Best advice I can give if you really want to continue to use warez is to get a windows machine and avoid macs. You'll get a better specd machine for the price of the newer m1 pro imo but I'm not a expert

 

just migrated my ten years old system from high sierra to M1/Monterey - you canchoose Logic to run in rosetta mode or native. The rosetta mode allows about 95% of my plugs to work perfectly, 32-bit version are nor supported any longer. And you cannot use the iLok soft-crack any longer ... hope this helps - good luck!

 

Yeah I am weighing it up, but I my hatred of windows holds me back lol but yeah, the poor price to performance ratio of macs over the psat decade is what has stopped me from upgrading til now. But that being said, I am not so sure about the spec to price ratio anymore as I have watched a lot of reviews of these M1 machines, and even with only 8-16GB of ram seem to be really outperforming machines that seem more powerful on paper. They are expensive for sure, but for once, they dont seem bad value for money. The mac mini looks a really good option. but it has felt increasingly difficult to find vsts over the last year or two.

 

Thank you for your reply, that's encouraging. Does rosetta perform well? I was wondering how effective the AU hosting was?

And I have never managed to get any cracked ilok stuff working anyway lol
