I am on Big Sur 11.6.1 with Logic Pro 10.7.1

I've just installed OS fresh. After installing Waves with the V.R. Patch I open Logic and it scans the new plug-ins an work well.

But when I close and re-open Logic it freezes on the "updating information about audio unit plug-ins" screen. I can force quit on that stage. If I wait long enough, about two minutes, logic opens and runs well.

I guess it re-scans waves plug-ins. Because if I remove waves, logic works without any problem with other plug-ins (fabfilter etc.)

    Any suggestions?

Don't use Logic so much, but fark that AU verifier... gives me the shits. I can confirm it works in Logic and Bitwig latest legit.. haven't opened logic yet (again fuck that varifier)

What waves release are you talking about? Works fine here on Monterey logic pro 10.7.1. It scanned plugins only the first time.

You mentioned fresh install. but did you actually have 12 installed previously? You have to remove it cleanly. duplicated V12?

This is a common issue if you have multiple versions of Waves installed. The removal tool built into Waves Central sucks donkey balls and will leave lots of debris around. A good place to start checking is: /Applications/Waves/ and see if you have more than one version of WaveShells.

Here's a link to a good guide by BigM as to what to remove manually:
How to install Waves 13 on M1

No I do not have v12 installed. I have install Big Sur, Logic and Waves V13 with latest Waves Central using online install.

    I've already done it exactly.

If issue still exists, try a full audio unit reset in logic.

run "AU reg utility", just search it with spotlight and it will pop up
also chmod the .bundle crack file ("sudo chmod u+x <drag and drop file>")

Edit: Nevermind, I remember having that issue too but I believe using a different solution for it, I'm not sure I think I just reinstalled a release from another group and it worked like a charm.

I have reset audio unit cache by both deleting the cache files and via logic itself. no change. if I uninstall waves logic opens very fast. but when I re-install waves it opens with freezing.

I have also tried both RET and V.R. releases. Still no change. I am going to have some free time at this weekend. I'll re-install big sur.

i don't think re-installing bigsur is a good choice. i think you have some remaining old waves installation files left(eg:waveshell). go to waves central and remove v9/v10/v11 plugins. if it doesn't work do a complete waves cleanup in central and try.

I have uninstalled waves both by waves central cleanup section and manually.

The problem goes away when I uninstall waves. Logic opens as normal then. But after I re-install waves it occurs again.

Today I installed Studio One 5. All AU Plug-ins work. Studio One opens without any problem.

I guess I should search the problem within the Logic and Big Sur.

then try re-installing logic pro. make sure you have audio unit cache file here,

    ~/Library/Caches/AudioUnitCache

if issue still exists try a different admin account.

it took me forever to figure this out as well... The same thing would happen to me but it was a licensing issue with an emo plugin and it was a pop up that hides behind all open windows and its damn near the same dimensions as the logic banner there... I dont know if thats your issue but it would even happen when I would change buffer sizes. the program would appear to freeze but it was actually waiting for me to click the license error pop up... I dont even touch waves anymore with everything else thats out there. Need to clean it off my M1

are you using the built in archive utility to decompress or winzip? I had this issue but it was with redream emulator. winzip destroyed the redream.app but it worked fine when I unzipped the .zip file using apples archive utility
