No, I saw it on the brother site

  3. I'm tempted to create chaos by making a Foster style thread asking "who is the worlds best ever musician?"

None other than literally one of the fathers of the modern acoustic guitar. Among other things. So yes, as influential as it gets. And a countryman. Go Andrés!

Black Sabbath. First album sounded like nothing else, it was a new genre.

Van Halen. Love 'em or hate 'em EVH dropped a bigger bomb into the world of guitar (therefore, rock music) than even Jimi did. BTW The Experience also arguably "changed music". As did, yes, the Beatles, objectively, no matter how you feel about them.
    And Sinatra.
    And Wagner.
    And Chuck Berry.
    And Bach.
    And Coltrane.
I mean, this list is extensive.

Cream. Not only did they sow the seeds of heavy metal but Clapton's Les Paul/Marshall is still the standard rig for countless rock guitarists to this day and the virtuoso "rhythm section" of bass and drums were each given plenty room to shine individually, influencing a generation of budding musicians in the process, myself included. It's a long time ago now but they really were unique.

    Robert Fripp said something profound:
"There is only one musician in the world, but acting through many bodies and speaking in a number of dialects."
That form of advanced quantum thinking renders the question moot.
