Reaper is so powerful and efficient... But it requires time to be handled and appreciated...
With some adjustments and skills to make/use scripts and custom actions, there is no way back :)

Here is an example of my default config, theme is "Hydra" by Blankfiles

Damn that theme is sweet! Makes me almost consider trying it as a DAW.

Logic Pro 9/first few releases of LPX looked quite good imho.

I don't own it but I've always been a sucker for Reason. Give me skeuomorphism or give me death, down with flat designs.

Reaper looks quite nice with a few skins.

As for the worst.. Well, either Logic Platinum or "Pro"Tools.

Heres the theme, its one of the best I've found

    https://stash.reaper.fm/theme/2123/Ameliance Theme Concept (ReaperThemeZip)

I adjusted the brightness of the theme cause with default settings I found it a little bit too dark.

You can change the brightness through Options > Themes > Theme Adjuster/Color Controls

I also edited some of the colors through Theme Development: Show Theme tweak/configuration window, so you might not see the exact same thing as I showed on the screenshots.

I mostly made changed to the MIDI colors, so not too big of a difference :)

If Reaper had a more modern interface, and could consolidate some of the mile long drop down menus, it would definitely knock the competitors out of the water, this coming from a Pro Tools guy.......IMHO

The worst is Studio One for me. So much space wasted and hide knobs in other parts of the windows. I gave up after a few days exploring it. It was frustrating, I mean even Reaper was more intuitive for me.

For me wins Ableton Live, its minimal and things are just put together, that you can quickly access it. Color can be very well balanced and yes its inspired by having it for a live gig. But maybe its just that i worked for now so long on a daily basis, that i simply find it that cool.
Logic Pro looks very good, even i am windows.

Reaper has so many skins, you can make it look like all DAWs.

Not sure were to put Cubase yet?
Reason i wouldnt use if i had some of the instruments and effects as vsts. Everybody who can work with it - WOW you are tough!

(And no word about ProTools ...)

    So these are my opinions.

Logic Pro, hands down, and I despise Apple. lol

I use Reaper, and I'm using "Realogix Pix Mod" theme.. pretty nice, but it's still no logic. I want to use iLogic theme, but looks like you have to donate to even try it, and I'm not going to do that (please correct me if I'm wrong, and anyone knows!). Been a long time since I've used Reason now, but that used to look pretty good, back when I was using it.

This is why clothes, technology and many things day-to-day come in different colours, shapes and sizes. This is because some people have favourite colours, styles, so one and so forth. Additionally, some people prefer functionality over aesthetics, vice-versa and some people want both.
If any person can completely change the entire look and feel of anything to suit themselves, they'll probably be happy with it. I am not a Reaper user but it is the only one that can almost be completely reskinned, and changed in its look and feel.

Short context specific menus are an option, just right click on anything you want a menu for. There are also complete menu replacements out there, and you can customize your own menus as well. As you use REAPER you will find with a tooless intrface you are not using the menus as much. If you don't like the looks just skin it.
