Each package contains two types of files:

database (and image) files
preset files
Database files
The database files contain information about the plug-in, like the name and type of instrument.

Copy the subfolders of "dist_database" folder to the following location:

Windows: C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\NI Resources\dist_database

MAC: /Users/Shared/NI Resources/dist_database

Image files
The image files, that are used by the Komplete Kontrol and Maschine browser to show nice presentations of the plug-in. You don't need them for browsing, but it just looks better if you do install them.

Copy the subfolders of "image" folder to the following location:

Windows: C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\NI Resources\image

MAC: /Users/Shared/NI Resources/image



Preset files
These are the most import files. They represent all the tagged presets. Copy the folder named after the plug-in to the location of your user library for Komplete Kontrol or Maschine. If there is already a folder named after the plug-in, you can just copy the subfolders to it.

By default the user library is located at:

WIN: C:\Users\[USER]\Documents\Native Instruments\User Content

MAC: Users/[USER]/Documents/Native Instruments/User Content

However, I would recommend to create and use a separate folder for these preset files. Than you can add each preset folder separately in the Komplete Kontrol settings. The number of files can be quite large, and using separate folders gives you the opportunity to rescan them individually. Especially when you have set the user folder to be scanned at startup, this saves a lot of time.

the use of komplete is a workaround for time wasted in long scrolling to find the kit u want, and if u don't u have to re-scroll all the way down again, but komplete categorizes according to kits, so can select kit u want dive to presets in seconds without unnecessary scrolling

 

So, does komplete kontrol categorize items automatically?

 

yes, just download the arcade nks files from the zippy links and use the tutorial text i replied in this thread to set it up

OMG. I just looked at the instructions above! This looks like a nightmare to do. I got nks files from dropbox, and just today got some via zippy. So I have them uncompressed and wanted to start trying to use komplete to do the banks browsing. I see instructions to rename and I have to go find a database to load it into? I was hoping to just open the nks in komplete and start browing. So I guess I will just continue uing the PDF to go to the titles. That works well, and is not so convoluted as all this I saw. Might be easier once you've jumped through all those hoops but the pdf with the titles doesn't involve all of this. I guess I am giving up on komplete. Los me in the first sentence in the instructions. Renaming and .js and all. I got a headache right away. I am catalogging them just fine using the pdf. Thanks anyway. Most of us are not programmers and cannot follow this stuff.

Is there any solution for Mac users? Scrolling the lines and kits is very stress full....too much time to find a good preset (every single preset is very stressfull to search...should be better only search the "Lines list")
