Rob Papen RoCoder

The RoCoder name is very close to that of the original Vocoders given title. However, you will find that there are many new and creative features onboard, so don't expect a regular Vocoder.

Alongside a 32-band Vocoder, RoCoder also features an Additive mode, a combined Vocoder + Additive mode, Noise mode, Tuned Noise mode, and a Tuned Comb mode. These new modes allow you to create many new types of sound next to the Vocoder sound.

I've never been I big fan of Predator (I prefer Alien ) but this new version seems nice, I'll give it a try again !
I'm intrigued by this "RoCoder" vocoder ! It can be great for sound design works ! Someone tested it ?

 

I get 2003-2005 (or so) flashbacks. It sounds like the sounds back then.

Sounds more analog because they used a part of the code from BIT in this version 3. Well done Rob!

God damn that laggy GUI, sorry can't see past that

 

Agree that GUI needs improvement. Would also be nice to scale below 100% for smaller screens.

 

Can somebody explain what separates it from the competition like Hive, Massive X, Serum, Pigments, Spire, Dune etc.. ?

 

Predator 3 has just landed ...

 

The demo doesn't sound anything special: We already heard that kind of sounds 10 or even 15 years ago.

This synth doesn't seem to add anything to the current soft synth landscape IMHO.

Edit: And at $150, it's not exactly cheap compared to other soft synths.

 

Sounds soooo cheesy in the demos. 90s euro trance or something.

 

Rob Papen - Predator, was one of the First Virtual Synthesizer for Dance and Trance. Back then everyone was playing the Predator. It was released on March 12th 2007. In terms of sound, it was top-notch. They didn't exist back then: Hive, Massive X, Serum, Pigments, Spire, Dune. The Dune and the Hive are pretty bright from the sound. Some are enthusiastic about the pigment, but I think the Predator is very good. Also depends a lot on the presets you play. Each synthesizer has its advantages and disadvantages and each synthesizer is important in itself. You can't say it's good or bad.
