    Hi everyone !

I'm currently working on a new album and I would love to get more feedback on my past work !

Actually, I would love to get your Negative Reviews only about my musical work in general,
but also about the graphical content, strategic moves, artistic choices or anything that could
    be relevant !
(Don't mince your words I don't need to be spared)

Here are few links to listen to my music (in chronological order) :

    Also :

I'm very pleased with all positive feedbacks I can receive from public but I feel like I could benefit
more from focusing on stuff people doesn't like and keep this in mind.
I know what I'm looking for when I make music but being aware of what the public thinks and wants
    can be very rewarding IMHO.

Thanks a lot for your time, take care !

    Hi ANTIMONOS,
You are a talented artist and there is something special and unique about your music.

See yourself as an artist and your music as art. Follow your intuition and stay independent.
Make a CD with your works and apply to film / filmmakers, music for art exhibitions etc. and establish
contact with other artists, worldwide, which is very easy and inexpensive with the Internet today.

You shouldn't make the mistake of making music for the masses. Do not satisfy your desire for simplicity and carefree music.
Your music is demanding, for demanding people on this planet.

You have probably already noticed that some exciting films only support the soundtrack, correct action and actions and the arc of suspense. A little exercise: You could run a film of your choice without sound and ask yourself what music can I add to it.

Don't get lost in likes and dislikes, Facebook and SoundCloud, it's good to be present there.
Don't try to please the crowd, the crowd is wrong and is not your target audience.

The best thing to do is to print out this criticism and hang it on the wall or create a folder with criticism and tips.
You look at it once a month. Then you make a few personal notes.

If you are dissatisfied with your graphic, take a few dollars on hand and look for a
graphic designer who will make your logo or cover for you. www.deviantart.com

^^ That is some solid advice - that said, sorry I have nothing to say in the way of criticism for your music. You have something very special here, not my style at all, but it is truly entrancing.

Agree with BEAT16, would love to criticise but ain't nothing wrong with your music m8 its quality stuff, as is the art work and image I love the logo its like two mountain ranges, evocative of the space in your sound, it works.... The music is possibly not the most commercial I've heard, but who cares about that, personally I like stuff with an obvious beat, but again who gives a stuff what I think..
If your looking for advice about what to do with it, I suggest you might want to get involved with the arts, dance schools and theatre, your sound is quite visual and expressive, and I feel a combination of both would compliment the audio making a greater of the both. Buy a drone, fly it in the mountains in Greece (avoiding any nearby airbases :)), get some video and stick it on youtube. (Don't give a stuff about what other people want unless you want to work in the music equivalent of a factory, do your own thing, enjoy it and try working with other arts.

WOW just WOW I've played Red Canopy, Red Canopy (Arure & Priscilla Cucciniello Remix) and I'm listening to Icare right now and WOW

I agree with @BEAT16 (and I'm not in the music biz so I cant add anything there) and I agree with @techdevil "your sound is quite visual and expressive"

and I'd say don't change for anyone - just develop and evolve your sound the way you want and do it for yourself - and thank you for your art I'm really enjoying it - :))

Icare surprised me at 3:40 - and yes in a good way.... LOVE IT :))

edit - I think your graphics are pretty cool - love the Esther design -

The only two things I can come up with is your mixes are somewhat low-contrast (i.e. all the sounds are of the same brightness, volume and distance to the listener) and there's consistently half a dB too much 1.5 and 3 kHz. That would make it too fatiquing to listen to for a long time and also too narrow feeling despite it actually being rather wide.
So if you want to improve your work even further, try to add contrast to your music instead of just loudness. Like, make some sounds narrower but panned further from the center, make background sounds quieter and duller than the lead sounds.
Generally think more of spaces your sounds are in, how they are positioned relative to each other in those spaces and the psychoacoustics of it all. Irina Aldoshina's books should help in this regard, as I understand Russian isn't too problematic for you?
Oh, and cut the ear-tingling frequencies by half a dB.
That's the direction I think you can improve in. Arrangement-wise, your music seems complete, tho I can't exactly decipher the ideas behind it.

Oh, and not "Bad" reviews, but "Negative". A minor nitpick, but "Bad" carries a slightly different meaning in this context.

Another idea came to my mind. People with ex-USSR and sometimes USA culture (European less so) tend to approach self-growth from a dysfunctional side of self-deprecation, thinking harsh critique might contain something constructive for them.
But in reality, this is just a habit, born from a toxic upbringing environment. While this is true that there might be something constructive in people trying to "destroy" you, you're taking more unnecessary work on your shoulders, and this is in a best-case scenario.
There's a better way: instead of asking to "kill" you, ask what people think you could improve. In fact, ask yourself exactly that in the first place. Instead of "What is bad" look for "What can be better".
    I hope this makes sense.

    Thanks a lot !

I actually made a little company making music for pictures, but it's not so easy to find contracts and opportunities, I tend to expand my network but, again, it's pretty hard to me to get at the right place or approach right people. I'm actually pretty surprised to make enough money with to survive and pay my rent ! I guess that's a whole world to develop here :)

I understand this and try to be focused on what I'm looking for in the musical domain, keeping my own vision et direction. I have few more artist names, depending on the mood I can switch for one to another, but I would like to reach a larger audience with this one, looking for establishing a solid carrier in the musical world. I agree with you concerning the way I asked for opinions about my music, that was bad, letting you think I approach the problem by the negative side, and that was the case, on purpose. :) I did that because I found from experience that "positive approach" is less attractive, almost nobody answers. The negative approach is kind of poor in itself and comes with "why don't you be positive ?" :) but at least there are reactions ! The proof is I made an other thread asked for opinions and only a few people answered... I'm making experiences with these social mecanisms and at the end of the day that's kind of disappointing... Not my core philosophy, I join you on this point.

Actually I do that a lot :) One of my favorite exercise !

I feel you, I personally don't care about likes/dislikes and views. The problem that I encounter is that people I could work with to get more exposure, ask me to get a bigger audience :) To expand my audience I have to expand my audience before ! Isn't it fun ? :)

I totally agree, that's what I'm looking for with this post ! I don't want to change my way to work or the way I feel making music, I just want to discover things that I would not have taken into consideration.

I work with a graphic designer and I personally love her work so that's cool ! I am however open to criticism ;)

I hope my english was clear enough to be understood :) Don't hesitate to tell me if you don't understand some parts !

Is Antimonos the Vangelis of the 21st century?

    Maybe not quite yet,
but you're on the right path

It would be interesting to hear your take on an odd time signature,
something like 7/8, 5/4, 9/8 or 10/8.. and that's very Greek too! :guru:

    I've read everything you wrote.

You don't have to try to make a living from your music alone. Rather, try to be free. Ideally, a job with which you can pay your bills and rent. Here with us there is the term "breadless art". Actually, one should join forces to form an artist collective. Or rent a building or factory floor together and share the costs for the studio / studio. In an artist collective you would be able to exchange ideas better. You can also found an association to promote art.

All over you mixes I have the feeling of too much stereophony....sounds stupid, I know.
I feel too litle mono on the instruments... don´t get me wrong your mixes sound big and well taking care of.
My critique is the 3d awareness of elements.... some things do not have to be all the way stereo... or maybe mono?
I repeat, it sounds great the way it is but I miss anker points for certain elements. thats all, your music is great!

I think you're completely right ! I have to remember it, I always tend to enlarge everything, at this point my "normal" reference in terms of stereo image is "very wide". You're not the first saying me that, I have to remember that and give more love to monophonic stuff :)
    Thanks !

Thanks for the kind words !
Your analysis of the logo is very interesting, I didn’t think of it this way !

That’s a reason why I would like to understand what can make music more commercial without denaturing it. I remember a lot of artists becoming successful keeping their “identity”, without being loved by everyone but being listened by a lot of people.
Finally I think that I’m looking for a way to get more visibility. This could come with things I didn’t saw/consider before.

Your opinion is important to me, thanks a lot for giving it !

Like I answered to @BEAT16, I’m already on this way with my little company making sound for pictures :) I would love to develop it more finding more contracts but It seems that I’m not so good in this domain…

I didn’t buy a drone but I already done something similar with friends ! That’s not Greece but I love these places where I grew up in the south of France :)

That’s not so original but that was something to organize ! The logistic etc… We did 4 places in one day, and playing live in these environments was a great experience !

Yes I agree with you, I have to work on this and find more possibilities !

Thanks a lot for your time @techdevil !
