Hello guys. I've come across a lot of posts in various forums and videos which finally summarise saying 99%of what we learn online regarding audio production or mixing or mastering is NOT right but none of them really mention which at least they think is correct.
I want to ask you all talented musicians, mixing mastering engineers the most highly trusted ONLINE source you can recommend to a highly aspiring beginner mix and mastering engineer like me. I know there are many many videos on youtube related to audio mixing and mastering which go with "How to"s or "Create beautiful"s,,,etc. But please recommend that source which you think is BETTER than any other.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

Fabfilter's YouTube channel, Dan Worral's YouTube channel, Kush Audio's you guess what.
Fabfilter is for the most basic stuff, Dan Worral is for some finer technicalities and Kush is for how to approach a mix on a high level, tho they have some technical stuff as well.
That'll get you kickstarted, everything else is experience only.

The problem with posts like this is that you'll still get as many different answers as people responding to you. I've been going through the same problem as you, and so far have yet to find a solution for it. Although I'll tend to agree with Lieglein in that written stuff can sometimes be better than video series because you have references and sources available.

Learn the nature/usage of each and every basic Tool..

RTFM of all plugs/tools you like or gonna use, (there's a recent topic in AS about manuals..)
and check online for expert opinions on the specific usage of those tools for a given task/context..

Like, how to use EQ and Filters?
How to use Reverbs? ..as a Bus insert?
How to use Reverb on X style? ..on a Guitar, Vocal or Drums?
How to use Compressors? ..Multiband Compressors? ..Sidechain Compression?
    M/S Processing.. whatever.

Any topic that interests you, first RTFM of the tools involved,
and then check it online, and see what experienced ppl thinks/reports..

    Watch YT videos,
read Articles like Sound on Sound, Future Music..

And well ofc very importantly: Experiment

    Of course.
You know why everyone tells other stories in the internet and everyone gets confused?
Because they do not read what is already discovered since the 18th century. :invision:

So reading literature is the best opportunity to not get confused. :guru:
Only then you can differ between nonsense and actual senseful information.

Sage Audio on Youtube has great tutorials. Short so you aren't overwhelmed with information, and explained clearly. I've learned loads in about a month already.

puremix.net is worth a mention, some really top-level engineers covering everything from music theory right through mixing to mastering. They also do Mix Tanks for feedback which is great. I'd second the Dan Worrell stuff on FabFilter and his own YT, one of the few people I'd actually trust on the inter-web.

    None of them.

Yes, annoying answer, but in my experience each one of those only shows a very small part of the vast world of mixing. Many of them have their own style of mixing that not everyone likes. Others only show work done on material that was already professionally tracked and needs little work. Some are obsessed with technical aspects and notching tiny frequencies, others are interested in putting an old tube unit on the bass for its 'magic'.

I personally don't connect to either method. Beyond learning the basics, what really got me to understand mixing and achieve my own sound is a lot of experimentation, reading interviews with different producers/mixers and trying out different methods, and most of all, listening critically to records that I love. Also understanding how the tools that I use (eq, compression) work. Even now I'm sure I have a lot to learn. And also a lot to unlearn.
