User Ashcat_It in reaper forum figured a way to modulate everything in reaper using anything that can produce a cv just like a modular synth , this has so many applications its ridiculous you can literally control everything with everything , here I am demonstrating how easy it is to use and link using vital because it is free and its lfo is incredibly flexible

Yes I have seen the gif. I modulate everything with everything, for years. And when I want to link multiple parameters, I use cockos midi control plugin.

Maybe I missed a detail, but I don't see what should be new in the gif.

There is no linking here , you cant link an lfo because the actual knob is not moving , I am producing a dc signal from vital and ashcat plugin turns it to slider movement then I can link it to what I want to modulate , I searched reaper forum for a week nobody has ever done it before him

 

I learn every day from Reaper and this tuto is a good start. I also know rea control midi. The power of Reaper is that they are many ways to create new stuffs.

Yes, you do. That's exactly what Ashcat's plugin does. It takes an audio signal and maps it as a control value on a slider.
It does the same thing that I have done. However, with ashcat's plugin it takes less steps to get to this goal.

 

I dont get your point , I saw this idea of modulation using synths lfo made in another DAW , I searched Reaper forum and youtube for info on how to do it in reaper I saw none except ashcat who had the same idea 5 years ago , I contacted him and figured a way to solve some issues of audio control signal because it behaves really weird at high rates and it doesnt follow the lfo signal linearly and I decided to share it with everyone , I didnt claim I invented covid cure but this is not basic reaper modulation

My point was related to your original post. There is - and there has been for a very long time - the possibility to modulate everything - with every source. Ashcat's plugin does basically the same as reaper's modulation. It converts audio signals into control signals. Maybe it does it sample accurate and without curve distortion and gate, I haven't tested it yet. That would be awesome! So thanks again! My only point was that the possibility has always existed to do that.

I have to agree with Oly.. (damn, lol). My DAW is Ableton, but I use Reaper to complement it. So I'm not that familiar with all the deep stuff it has to offer.

@Plainview, thanks for the tip. I think I get it, but I can't find the JS plugin. Can you (or someone) give a link to it (or the code?). I don't see the RetrospectiveRecord_tracker in my JS plugins also (to follow what you are showing exactly)

Is there a repository for these or something. I know this will sound stupid to y'all Reaperists, Reapists.. ;)

The retrospective record tracker records midi even when I am not recording so that nothing is lost its really cool but not related to this , here is the js plugin
