motherboard size doesnt matter, the full lenghth PCI card depends only on your computer case size

Problem is (see 2nd picture): " After December 31st 2017 it will no longer be possible to log into your PowerCore account to register products, transfer licenses etc. and we will no longer be providing customer support for the platform. "
There is no more driver support.

With today's processor performance, DSP cards will soon be completely obsolete.

Better buy a faster CPU or a better audio interface.

You cannot plug an old school PCI card into a newer PCI-E slot,
there's adapters for that, but you will need a slightly wider case than usual..

BEAT16 is right, the support for this card is long gone..
But somebody managed to Crack it and make a license Unlocker, and it's now shared on the sister site!

That's why the interest in this cards has now resurfaced

Well this would be the most exemplary situation where using cracked software may be justified..

TC has just abandoned PowerCore users in the middle of the road,
no more support, no more tire fixes.. you're on your own, and that hardware/software you paid for is discontinued/forgotten..

So what a better situation than this to actually make good use of the card you paid for..

The software it uses is not exactly state of the art,
and newer versions are being sold as regular VSTs, so I don't see the problem.

PCI slots can use PCI and PCI-X cards, PCIe is something completely different.

there is 64 bit and 32 bit PCI, some cards require 64 bit and wont work in other slots.

some cards also require a certain speed/transfer rate to work.

the most important part is the voltage. there are PCI slots with 3 volts, with 5 volts, and so called "universal" with both.

and there are boards with different types(!) of slots.

i have seen cards going up in flames after someone ignored the voltage type. so voltage this is the minimum information you need to check, because there is a chance that a board newer than a card is 3.3V only. normally 3.3V slots should prevent wrong cards from beeing put in, but...

physical size is yet another story, like someone said already, there are a lot of computer cases which do not support full length. but that doesnt mean it would not be technically compatible.

the virus poco being the cause of a good share of the interest. I've seen mention of the Motorola dsp project version running/sounding nicer.

    How do they compare?
