    Hi

    I have a desktop without PCIe slots and have this question for you:

    Will I be able to use this PCIe adapter with my Powercore PCI MK2?

    https://www.startech.com/en-us/cards-adapters/pex1pci1

    The issue is the fact it´s a low profile/half-height bracket, so will it fit?

    Thanks in advance

    vendor: Install half-height/low profile PCI interface cards

    a full height pci card wont fit, look yourself at the picture. the poco's bracket is "stacked" above the adaptors bracket. that tower would be too large for a standard pc enclosure. that stuff aside, m5g's advice is the most relevant thing here!

    I used to work in a studio that had the enclosure model of the same brand. We successfully run old PCI Protools cards in newer PCI Express models at that time. So the enclosure models do work but they aren't cheap.

    What plugins do you want to run from the POCO card ? Most TC electronics plugins are now native.

    If you want to use the POCO Virus plugin you could try the Motorola DSP emulator plugin, sounds fantastic and it is free.

    I have the firewire version and I barely use it anymore, alternatives nowadays are very good.

    Best of luck!

    I'm using one for RME HDSP 9652 and it works very well. Only problem is the PC CASE that must have some additional space for the added height, or you can buy an additional PCI-e flat cable extender to place the card in another position.

    ...which is why most adapters are horizontal, which would mean that a single powercore card would require the space of 4 slots.

    Alexbart, what adapter brand do you use? How is the latency?

    After trying some of them now i use this one:

    https://it.aliexpress.com/item/32849431927.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.790c4c4dsAC4Vr

    Be aware that compatibility depends on:

    -The chipset and CPU your computer is based on;
    -The PCIe slot you plug this in (some are controlled by the CPU, some by the chipset);
    -The slot (PCI, of the adapter) you plug the powercore on.

    On my system i have most compatibility with Pericomm based converters (as this one or startech), ASMedia based don't work on my system, with the adapter plugged in a chipset controlled PCIe slot (i'm on an AMD/Ryzen based system).

    Also, i DON'T need to connect a SATA power cable to the adapter.

    Good luck.

    I'm using the one from Startech, it doesn't need any additional drivers and I can use the 9652 at 32 samples buffer without any clicks. It works flawlessly.

    The adapter will convert a mini PCI-e to a full PCI slot, so the Powercore will fit inside that slot. Then it's important to have enough space inside the PC case.

    @alexbart & @Plendix

    I dont know what you´re doing to make this work.

    In my case my PC is not able to recognize the StarTech Pci express to Pci adapter card and therefore not my poco. And there´s no drivers for this card if you go to their website.

    What the heck am I doing wrong???

    PCI MK2 has only 4 DSP, so x8 or 6000 version is better right? But I would run native plugins and for Virus, there is Motorola emulator.
