What I always found interesting is why audio warez are generally done by certain groups. The likes of X-Force always do Autodesk, Adobe (well, did Adobe), but then did still just keygen stuff, why don’t they do other stuff that is just keygenned. It is the different software has a different set of code or something?? Lavteam, all engineering apps, all different protection methods, but they stick to that area. It’s always been something that interested me, why they seem to stick to a certain niche.

then you start thinking why protection methods like ilok seem to be more audio based whereas RLM servers are CG.

    I know such...
they seem to be working with Overloud now?!....
also some IR's are taken for the EZmix series.

I wonder why they weren't given the software to sample the Rig\FIR.
After all, they have a lot of equipment, it could compete with Acustica Audio
    it is quite real ...:dunno:

agree, but now there are a lot of indie developers releasing unique plugins for Blender, Five - ten years ago it was quite difficult to find many things At the time I was studying at Strata and there were also a lot of problems buying a render farm, etc.
now everything is very simple thanks to the new Keyshot, Maverick Render, Chipp Walters and Blender forums...) :guru:

I wrote a complete Offtopic!

Was more meaning why certain groups favour cracking certain software genres.

I was thinking after I wrote the last part, about the different protection solutions, I know the likes of RLM and Flex-net are better for “seat” type licensing, where you have maybe 10 users in an office but only 7 licenses as not all users need the software all the time, so they check out a license from the server as and when, and that’s not really how it works with audio, but surely when the likes of dongled elicenser hasn’t been broken and the time sensitive nature of audio still working with that, why the hell has it not been adopted everywhere??? Unless McFACT and the obfuscation doesn’t work because of shuttling stuff to GPU’s causes problems, but then you would just tie the protection to other functions. Just interesting.

Ahh ... Thanks for the explanation.
For me, this is also a pretty interesting question, The first thing that comes to my mind is that crackers want to have one audience and have common interests, well, it's like an otaku.
Perhaps you pay attention to creative graphics, there is also a subdivision - like those who make vituber, there is also a whole world of their own people.
I really think so, this is my first thought. Perhaps this is not at all true) It is also possible that this is not our business,
but someday we will be able to find out for sure, there are reasons for this.

But thank you for writing about it !, this opinion was interesting.

UAD requests - In case anyone is not aware what would be involved for R2R to do this.
    • Now it is more than feasible that R2R gets their hands on the hardware that is essential for the UAD plugins to work effectively.
    • It is also feasible that they might somehow be able to get every plugin UAD makes.
That is only the starting point.

Lets assume the seemingly impossible of getting both hardware and every plugin is possible.
    • THEN - Basically and overly simplified - they have to stick the daughter-board into a computer and read every single micro-transaction with the software and dump them into likely masses of files. They have to read every piece of data on the ROMS, PROMS, EPROMS and EEPROMS and data dump them accurately along with all the sequence timings as they are called.
    • THEN - they have to work out how to create an emulator from all of the hardware data they accumulated and make sure their emulator functions identically as the hardware daughter-board does when each plugin is selected. Basically, create a virtual daughter-board.
    • THEN - they can attempt cracking it without any ET call home.

They are certainly exceptional at making emulators, possibly the best. But people, that is a ridiculous seemingly insurmountable amount of work, far more difficult than an iLok or an elicenser.

    Okay! good news...
Taking Apollo as a basis, for example, we can artificially raise the number of v-card (DSP cores) in your PC, it sounds quite real.
I think small problems with clock frequency and intel t-bolt technology are possible.
But something tells me that the guys managed to get private materials)

It's nice that such conversations are today.

There will always be people who see a challenge and a mountain to climb. R2R are certainly up to the challenge, but nobody could blame them for avoiding it purely for the sheer amount of work to do in order to make it completely bug free.

Nobody will be able to give you an answer at the moment. But I believe that the only Team that can succeed in this feat is R2R (and RET). That's for sure. R2R has reached a frightening level in mastering iLok and its custom protections. But I don't know if it will be enough for the Purple King of the audio industry. No one can predict the future...

Uhm no, I just replied to a user inviting him to have a little faith, I don't think R2R will ever read this post of mine. Also because it would be quite stupid to believe that a team as big and prestigious as R2R releases its work based on the wishes of their fanbase.

    This UAD speculation is ridiculous.
May as well be asking R2R to port across a version of Logic for Windows, or for them to release Live 12 with all the features that Ableton can't be bothered to develop themselves.
