So.... I installed the latest version of Waves and noticed that the startup time of Live 11 increased from about 30 seconds to well over a minute (with the "Scanning VST plugins") taking up most of that time.

The reality is that i very rarely use Waves plugins. They may be the "goto choice of the professional" but they never seem that intuitive to me.

So I uninstalled Waves and my Live 11 bootup time is now under 10 seconds... WTF?

    Anyone else have this experience?

Yes that is completely normal. You don't have to install all of the Waves plugins, only those that you use.
In Studio One you can deactivate "Scanning". Ableton hasn't managed to do that until today.

Not true. You can disable "Scan on Startup" in ableton too, It's just not so obvious.
You need to change it in the options.txt file.

I know there is the Option.txt, but it is not user-friendly and not up-to-date. Studio One solved it like this:

Yeah i know it's kind of annoying they have'nt implemented it yet inside ableton BUT for #Stuck In The 80s i pointed out the solution, and it's pretty easy to set-up really

I removed them from logic somewhat recently, and I did not notice any changes.

Hello. OK so I could take them out the startup but that still means waiting 60 seconds plus every time I install a new plugin just for ableton to detect there have been no changes to Waves. They're staying uninstalled. I never use them.

How do you do that? In the latest Waves Complete v2021.08.02 version from Team RET it automatically installed every plugin without opening Waves Central to specify desired plugins or give options to only install certain plugs, as in previous releases. Did I miss something?

    @BEAT16

Yes, that's how I've installed only the desired plug ins in previous versions, using Waves Central offline. But like I wrote, it didn't open Waves Central, nor did it give an option to open it.
Is your screenshot from the latest Team RET version, which is the version I'm specifically talking about (and the version @Stuck In The 80s posted about)?

you can deactivate scanning but adding an Options.txt into the Ableton Preferences folder.

    -NoPluginStartupScan

and it will skip the scan when it loads: https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/209772865-Options-txt-file

Yeah, that's not the version we're talking about.

So, for the original post, and also my question, your response
    is incorrect, and
    is also incorrect.

My friend, I know you are trying to help, but you've posted incorrect "advice" on a number of occasions prior to this, and it's completely counter-productive.

You cannot open Wave Central, then the problem is with you. If you have installed the correct version and correctly, you can open the "Waves Central" at any time.

On the subject of Ableton: Read the reply 3, 4, 5

The problem is with you and your reading comprehension.

AGAIN, we are talking about the latest Waves Complete v2021.08.02 from Team RET

There is no Waves Central in this version. You are talking about the VR release from six months ago, which is immaterial to the discussion, and is misleading.

    You initially said
    then contradicted yourself by saying:
It doesn't mater if it's not user-friendly or up to date. The method still exists.

You then go on to show how to disable the scan in Studio One, which in no way helps, or answers the OP's original question.

Can you not see how, rather than helping, you are continuously muddying the waters?

Your problem is - that you can't open Waves Central. The question was to limit the long scan times by using fewer waves plugins. And I wrote my opinion about it. As my personal point of criticism, I criticized Ableton's lack of a box to turn it on and off. That's my opinion and this is a forum where I can express my opinion freely. Ask another user or administrator here - how do you see it with Wave Central.

No, the entire problem arises from you saying "open Waves Central" when THERE IS NO WAVES CENTRAL IN THIS VERSION.

I don't need to ask another user or admin "How do I open Waves Central?", because THERE IS NO WAVES CENTRAL IN THIS VERSION.

You can not limit the long scan times by using fewer waves plugins by not installing them via Waves Central when THERE IS NO WAVES CENTRAL IN THIS VERSION.

I'll write it again and with that I'll end the dialogue with you! It's more of a monologue. Bye

    If you need "Waves Central":

    1. Uninstall
    2. Go back to an older Version
    3. I use this Version: Waves - Complete v12 03.03.21 - 03.03.2021 - WiN (V.R Patch) P2P
