right now i have about 2 tb of kontakt libraries and to be honest do i need all these close mics ect?i normally just use the regular mics is there a way to condense these libraries to keep only what i need or is it important to not break the structure of these libraries ?

It depends. If the samples are sorted to easily delete just the close mics then yeah. But if the samples aren't easily labeled or are encrypted in .nkx .nkc structure. Then no.
You can delete whatever instruments you want to and they won't show up in the list. But they are small in size. You have to get rid of the samples to reclaim back some space. But you have to see which samples are being used by which instruments.

But yeah you generally can delete any instruments or samples you want as long as there is still an instrument folder, samples folder, a wallpaper.png, and either a info.nkc or .nicnt file. Then that is all that is needed to make a library show up in library tab.

Im not a smart guy, but if you batch resave (in Kontakt) after you have deleted (removed) the patches you dont want, Im pretty sure you´ll end up with a shriked library of your own choice!

Phloopy is right, first chose the instruments you want to keep, then resave, before deleting.
But still, some library will not let you save the instruments with their samples.

keep in your mind when you resave, rebatch, that you need the original installers, because they need to create a real regkey int he registry to run(on windows ofc, dont know whats with MAC).
so i would keep the original release somewhere on a HDD.
but what you want with 2TB?! i hardly have 300GB here of Kontakt stuff (ok i havnt added some 8dio stuff, Spitfire), but even then i wont land on 2TB.

Actually, you don't need the original installers on PC.¿Don't you guys know the KLM v3 utility? It's a must-have. It does all the dirty registry work. You can add anything. You don't need installers, nor .nicnt file, nor root folder .nkc&.nkx files nor nothing but instruments and samples.

To make a light, condensed (you name it) library you need to remove the instruments/multis you don't need. Then you make a batch compress/collect samples in a new folder. The instruments and only the necessary samples will be copied to the new folder. That's it.

Batch resave only serves to rewrite the instruments files allowing to locate the samples. Faster loading too as collateral benefit.

    Hope it helps. Cheers

close or far microphones are part of the intellicency of the librarie.
Therefore you can not expect ni kontakt to filter on that.

On the other hand you are not making serious music, because you have to be a glad person, with a choice of microphone positions.

Did you ever play with the possibilities of microphone positions together with NI kontakt plugins like reverb and all of that.

I think not, because if you did you will have more microphones instead 1 one.
