Analog sound is beautiful, warm and creamy. There is just nothing like true analog. Digital can sound GREAT and has MANY perks. Everything has a purpose. Another funny topic would be DIGITAL COMPRESSOR > HARDWARE COMPRESSOR :bleh:

Sure, want single tones, licks or random melodies?

I'll record it once I get home (I'm currently in student accomodation)

Like hell I will!!! I wont even read most of the stuff that others wrote, because I have my opinion and Im just here to write it down, fuck everything else. Then I'll wait till someone (hehe) answers my post and regardless of what he wrote I will start a personal attack, state hes just stupid and than we will have a long sensless discussion about it. Of course in the end neither one of us will change his opinion, and because of such a stupid topic we will hate each other forever and start our fight again in every topic we see a post by the other...

Oh, nearly forgot: Digital rules BITCHES  :grooves: :break:

I've looked into DSD, it's purely marketing hype to me, and actually sucks. It only sounds fine because they made some workarounds to make their tricks somewhat inaudiable (but those workarounds are extremely obvious when you attempt to look at the FFT with a decoder which doesn't do fancy postprocessing. Seems like they made something 'new' for just the sake of it/marketing.

As computers become more powerful, the plugins are becoming more capable (because they're becoming more powerful). Pretty soon, digital will certainly win the debate by default, as more powerful computers will allow people to run sessions seamlessly at ultra-high sample rates; the crazy modeling of analog gear will be even more accurate without having to worry too much about the CPU considerations. Aliasing, smearing, static processing, and all those negative effects contributing to the sometimes 'harsh' (or "cold") perception of digital will be a thing of the past -- and already is a thing of the past, if you know what you're doing. *wink wink* --
But there are crazy technologies out there ALREADY that are breaking new ground and innovating the whole notion of "digital" -- take Nebula, for instance. The programming behind a lot of this software and these plugins is heavy, savvy, and simply groundbreaking. The vast majority of honest pro engineers -- especially those who take note of things happening under the proverbial hood -- will readily admit that digital is winning the Analog vs. Digital debate; and by the time it's all said and done, digital will reign supreme in nearly every aspect, because of its infinite flexibility.

    Errrr.... not now, tomorrow.

Or in short, whatever gives me good sounding result. These days it's really mostly ITB. So much happened last one or two years that made me think and rethink, and currently I'm rethinking that analog is just not necessary any more. How about next year? Or the year after even? I don't want to be a grumpy oldschool guy preaching about the pink elephants to everybody.

I can, for the first time in my life safely say: whatever rocks your boat. Now it's more about the workflow and control, not about the sound so much.

Once you hear something that starts as an analog signal and is processed through an all analog chain........................................PPPPPPPPPPPPHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKK. :beg:

That signal will remain PHAT even after it's fed into the computer to be turned into 1 and 0's.

I couldnt resist...to audiophiles analog rulez...we can hear the difference...tech reason is simple zeros and ones cant replicate a smooth analog curve EVER!!! the nature of math can only create a stepped curve and not a straight smooth curve...aside from the harmonics that analog equipment generate that add to the cream of the sound zeros and ones can never duplicate it and heres where the companies try to sell u on...they always say its CLOSE keyword is CLOSE and how close is the key... as close as zeros and ones can replicate a smooth curve and that drives the nail in the coffin of digital ever being able to DUPLICATE analog...NEVER!!!
and the sound for those with good ears ---no comparison...
On the side of digital the difference for somethings is small and for others things too big to even try to replace analog with digital however plugs give many conveniences, ex multiple instances, cheaper, etc.... in the end if u can use both then use both use what digital is good for and use what analog is good for!
