If you are a Logic Pro X user like me or GarageBand you already know that Plugins Browser in these softwares are primitive and stupidly user-unfriendly.

So I came up with this extraordinary concept for plugins browsing also managing with many amazing bells and whistles which has never been used in any modern DAW.

That's almost like the Plugin Picker from FL Studio works.

btw, in 2021 im surprised to hear this and apple does do nothing to improve Logic Pro X plugins/vsti browser, looks like they dont givaf* about pro audio users.

so, how is the default plugins interface in logic x pro now? don't tell me its the old school insert>select>drop down menus.. i used Emagic Logic Audio till 2005 -probably the best ever daw for that time. Sad to see what it became now.

if so, no wonder there is a need of this UI hack-mod

Thanks for this tip I will check it to improve my interface. Question... Does it show plugins in thumbnail/image view?

 

Each DAW has its own cons & pros none is perfect... compare to 2005 all are far far better & faster... and yes Apples Logic Plugin Browser is huge pain but it has its own quality features and uniqueness.

Anyhow thank for the info I have to check plugins browser in Studio One to improve my interface design and get more ideas.

Crossing my fingers Apple comes with something more innovative on Logic Pro 11.

cool idea, i'm lighting fast with those drop-down menus out of habit but it's still annoying and time consuming overall. would love the ability to set a browser like this to a hot key and type in the exact plugin or manufacturer folder i'm looking for

 

Yeah, I'm fast too with them but sometimes you need choose wiser instead faster. I think by visualizing plugins thumbnails you may choose better and it may cause to break habit of using same plugins and gives you the courage to use less tired one. It's interesting that I considered a Legacy Browser Mode in Setting's design page for those who prefer not to switch.

One thing for sure Search is a must... and that grouping feature may helps to explore deeper into your plugins.

Thanks for your feedback ... I'm working on a lite version which is much more compact in size and just kept essential features to make it less complicated and easier to use. As soon as I finish it will post it here and will be glad to hear your opinion about it.

i think the grouping feature would help with this also! i already organize each manufacturer's plugins into individual subgroups (see below), but i think the ability to enter a browser, click a category, and be able to see all plugins that fall into that category across all manufacturers would likely inspire some creativity and help certain plugins that get overlooked find their way into the workflow. logic's current way of doing this is too clunky and still involves the drop down menus

Would you please send me a screenshot of your Effects categories. Wonder how you ordered them.

This is mine for Effects and Top plugins. Worst thing is it took a lot of time & effort to arrange them and there is no back up solution in Logic for this.

I checked few screenshots of FL Studio's Plugins Browser on Google. With all do respect they looked disastrous to me.

Only similarity I found with this design is they also use a clunky version of thumbnail's view.

Or maybe I missed something!?

Logic's current browser is old & primitive.

 

The least they could do is allow a search bar. This design is killer!!!

 

Totally agree. Both Plugins Browser and Sample/Loop Browser in Logic sucks.
