    Not using Noscript is (could lead to) a disaster.

    At least if you are on Firefox (which are a lot of people), NoScript is the most important addon, because it prevents your computer from being harmed by malware - without Javascript and other scripting tricks, no malware gets on your computer easily (of course you have to deactivate Java too).

    Easy solution for me: I have a NoScript whitelist, so I can control which page is allowed to use which scripting. :wink:

    And a lot of pages have a dozen or more scripts running - so I can decide which ones of them I trust to run.

    no, you got it wrong - using NoScript is a disaster *yes*
    i'm telling this as a web-developer.

    that's what we use firewalls for. they analyze scripts, instead of just blocking them.

    another mistake - even microsoft can be hacked with injected script, and if it's in your whitelist, then you're in trouble.

    again, use firewall.

    No problem here, I use a firewall as well. And even if NoScript is not 100% safe, it's nevertheless smart using it - haven't had any malware infection in years. :wink:

    Whitelisting is almost no effort at all (in exchange for security), because (as most of us), I mostly visit the same sites I can trust, and on many other sites I just don't need javascript functionality. *no*

    Don't get me wrong - javascript may be useful for different design purposes - what I don't need is all that tracking shit like Google-analytics, facebook, doubleclick.net etc.

    i use epic browser when i visit audioz/audiosex. private browsing plus a built in proxy for super privacy. works like a charm for me. automatically blocks ads & pop-ups.

    Against that there is Ghostery. Works great.

    I also tried NoScript in the past, but it was just a pain in the ass.

    yes, well, i don't think there's a way to specify which .js files you want in NoScript.

    as for doubleclick crap, i used to block them via hosts file, like this:

    true. i used it as well for about a year back in the days... back then i didn't realized how important it is to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

    I don't have Javascript disabled, I just have it enabled for pages I trust. And a lot of pages just work without any modifications from my side. *yes*

    For cookies I use another fine extension which deletes all cookies on closing the tab - again with a white list (for pages like Audiosex etc.)
