Hi all, I'm making a Guitar backing track of Rammstein's Der Meister and wanted some opinions before I upload it to my youtube channel,

    Reference Track here

Great song and can't knock it but me, I prefer more louder and punchy drums lol. Anyway here is a sample of the sound I've got to at the moment.

Sadly I only have some superlux 668b's to mix with but its sound nice on those but ermm.. feedback needed. Have I pushed the drums too far?
    Thanks

Edit** Now I'm happy with the final result here is the track tabbed and imported to Rocksmith.

    Snare is too upfront
Kick is a little low : it should "compete" with bass

Reference levels according to toms : they sit right to me

Switch between reference and your version at same level to check levels

If you ask me most of the NDH (Neue Deutsche Härte) scene failed because most bands weren't hard enough. This particular type of NDH that Rammstein made in their first 2 albums were hard hitting because of the loud, often monotonous drums (in my opinion)
No, you didn't push the drums too far. I think the loudness is good, however I feel like the drums are muffled. You should let the snares be a bit more higher frequency. What I would do as a start is to play around with the equalizer on the right side. I might be wrong and I might not be much help, please don't shoot me.

Ok thanks for the feedback and Patrica, no shots fired at all. I'm quite new to mixing and its why I'm here. I'm happy for any feedback so Thanks, Sometimes I work on and fiddle that much I loose myself and get a little lost haha.
So anyhow, I pushed up the Kick a couple of Db and downed the snare a little bit but put a shelf on it from 9k up to brighten a tad.

    Here is the result.

too "kmfdm went to Hollywood" machine sounding. too far away from traditional German industrial music like Neubauten.
even Slipknot could afford to have a guy play an oil drum/keg with a baseball bat. :)

Drumkit tone/timbre is completely Different, and so is the Production of the drums themselves..

I'd try that same hits on a more Hard hitting Heavy Metal/Trash type of Drumset,
at least Addictive Drums 1/2, Superior Drummer or Slate Drums..

BFD have some heavy expansions too, but I think it offers/it's better for a more Natural type sound,
rather than a heavily processed one like the style/reference calls for..

Yes you pushed your drums too far.
Add some depth with some reverb on your ride in the beginning and all the way through.

Drown the arp lead in just a touch more reverb.

Those toms are too loud but that snare is prison dick tossing my salad. God damn turn that fucker down, what are you all the metallica members past and present smeleted down to 4 members before it's smeleted down to Robocop "put your hands up and unholster your weapons?"

Tell Moses to part the sea and Jesus to save me from the amount of decibels that hath chaseth me. Seriously what the fuck were you thinking with your snare fucking me up the ass this god damn much?? Have some mercy, I'm a metalhead too!

I like the song! However, the bass is booming a bit.
Maybe you have the opportunity to listen to the song, for example in the car or on other stereo systems.

Here is the main reason I make this backing track, I tabbed the guitar parts out and learned how to Import to Rocksmith, Please forgive the guitar tone, Rocksmith is a tad lacking its not quite a Nerual DSP plugin but its sounds as close I could get it. I guess I may work on it a bit more. Anyway here is Vid of it imported to Rocksmith and me smashing it out! hope you enjoy it.
