Also I said I didn't find anything special about Gsatplus and that acustica and AO was hyped up a lot on that platform

Recently (or: "Since a moment now"), I found that the site Xyz (link), which is not only a very gear-oriented forum but also a magazine with a lot of tests, reviews, etc... showed the tendency to hype up some brands by multiplying news, reviews, sponsored articles,and even contests, and in the other side to be strangely silent about other brands / products who are in the same field / market...

Question one: Have you seen shady things like that on your side?

Question two: what do you think of the site Xyz in general? Are you a member?

Question Three: What do you think about the specialized (online) press, and the gear-oriented journalists in general? Do you base your buying decisions on their advices?

You see? The interest here is to have the opportunity to present real arguments and testimonies, and have a deep discussion, not only about the site Xyz, but about all the specialized press in general.

From my (uninteresting) point of view, for very, very long time the only source of knowledge was through specialized magazines. I devoured all the tests about synthesizers, guitars, mixtables, PA systems, FX... everything. Because I haven't access to all that, this was the only way to know a little about this fascinating... things that mesmerized me. It was in the eighties.

And (treat me of 'naive') I trusted all what I red. But what I learned since, is that this trust is more and more eroded each day. There are subtile forms of sponsoring / real ads that cannot be distinguished from real articles, etc. So, in a way, we are all betrayed.

 

I think many developers indulge them. That's why they have and why they lose their reputation.
You can say a lot of things about audiosex, but not even remotely that it's corrupted.

that tb proaudio....its from their channelstrip..i love the move they made cause i used their cs only for that a time but its just a saturator nothing more or less

in this case kind of justified

So it's free to post an ad linking to the greediest music equipment marketplace sites (I won't say their name to avoid bolstering their search rank), but a lowly musician has to pay to post anything out of their marketplace?!..hmm.
