a direct comparison between all tape echos is needed again, especially when it runs over 50% into infinity

I could agree with this but tape delays are also something I agree that I can never have too much of. I understand that there are multiple versions of the same thing out there but the small gaps been closed where the newest version may just sound a bit better and it makes me want it anyways.

Happens more often than I'd like to admit but we always secretly have one foot out hoping for something better to come along which might replace a tool, or a few tools. I appreciate the fact he left in a lesson on how to create dubscapes just using a couple of the parameters too since I've never got to work with any hardware units.

I don't entirely disagree, and I will try this one out as soon as it's available on sissite. But I noticed that whatever differences in fine tuning and extra options tape delays offer, they're almost always only relevant when I'm using the effect on a solo track, with the sole purpose of exploring the effect. Like guitar > delay, and nothing else.
In the context of a full mix, an all-round delay like Valhalla will give me everything I want, almost all the time. On the off chance of needing something else, it will be some crazy plugin like MTurboDelay or Late Replies, not a tape delay emulation. Because whatever tape quirk they painstakingly modeled, it won't make a difference in a full mix. Maybe those quirks would indeed make a difference if the whole track was produced with whatever old analog tape magic you're shooting for, but if I'm being honest, I haven't heard a single modern mix that manages to sound like Lee Perry's Black Ark stuff, no matter how many plugins they use to emulate tape and transistors and voodoo magic and all that stuff.

Maybe they just need old school seeded weed.

Agreed, you have to really want this sort of effect to be soloed or put up front of the mix to really even hear and appreciate what the tape delay is doing to it's fullest. You're right most things will be just fine with whatever delay you already have available in the mix already.

Nothing gives me the type of slap back delays that a tape delay would though. I know I won't reach the same level I could with hardware but it's still nice I can even have plugins that emulate the types of gear that give this much character to your music. So the plugin rat race will continue for most of us.
