Which Control Surfaces lets you do the following:

    1 Automate Effects
    2 Automate Instruments
    3 Automate Smart Controls
    4 Custom parameter mapping

I know that you can 1 2 3 with a Mackie Control but I am not sure if it is at all possible to customize the mapping.

    How about alternatives ?

What can you do with the Icon Controllers.

What about Eucon like Avid Artist Mix ?

Or even Nektar Panorama P6 ?

Even tho an controller support sthe MCU protocol , it doesn't mean it supports all features , eg with the Faderport 16 I havent found any way to automate the samrt controls or even instruments, and automating effects is still a riddle to me since the faderport just displays trash.

At the moment I have a FaderPort 16, it is OK when it works but that is not reliable.
Sometimes teh Faderresolutiion drops to below MIDI until I repower the unit.
That SUXX! I am considering to sell it and get something better.

Yes with Studio One it has the best integration I have ever experienced. But for some reason I dislike using Studio One. Maybe it is the GUI or the bugs I have no clue.

I don't ask for assumptions but rather for experience.

Are you now switching from Windows to Mac / Logic?

    Icon QCon Pro G2 - 529 €

    iCon Qcon Pro XS - 670 € (....Better Fader ....? )
8 touch-sensitive, motorized channel faders with 10-bit resolution

I read that the motorized faders on the X-touch don't adjust exactly. Behringer should work on the problem. I wouldn't buy it.

I use the behringer x touch and extender now with logic x just upgraded last week to them both from the xtouch one . I can say they work perfect with automation , plugin control , full mixer control . There’s 8 function buttons you can set to do what ever you want . I went with the x touch so I can get the x air 18 mixer to go with it then it becomes a analog mixer / daw controller at the press of a button . I paid £569 for them both but if you live the other side of the pond in Europe Thormann have great prices on them . I’m looking at adding a second extender to it to have 24 channels it’s nice to see plugin parameters across all the channel strips instead of having to change banks to get to what I want . When I first got it I had a few bugs that was sorted by updating to the latest firmware and deleting the control strip cs file plist as I already had the other controller so was causing a few issues . But after that it works like a dream in logic .

I have an X-Touch with 2 extender and they work perfect ....
I considered teh icon stuff but their support coundt tell me if it can be used to automate smart controls .... can you ?

    same as teh x-touch

The X-Touch has surprisingly better faders than the PreSonus FaderPort 16

These are good empirical values or, in other words, it is X-TOUCH is pretty good. And what are you buying now?

Nothing, I wrote : "I have an X-touch with 2 extender and they work perfect ...." :)Maybe the SSL or others have better faders but they cost a lot more.
