sure, the new looks seems to be the great sell point

10 was already a milestone in better design. and 11 for sure pushes good ol industrial windows up on the runway

redesigned Windows 10, interface design, hello apple. the problems remained the same, a bunch of unnecessary shit from microshits, the lack of support for old drivers does not help disabling the driver signature, not the compatibility mode (I'm talking about printers, scanners and other things about laptops, even more complicated there). a bunch of working shit in the background, and for this shit they ask for money? How can he not get to them to make a normal Windows for different audiences? for creative people, leave only the drivers, remove all programs. for gamers, leave drivers, support for android, xbox, and home and business versions leave all the rubbish in the form of viewing photos, a notepad, paint, and so on. even the LTSB and LTSC versions have garbage, even though they are considered simple.

You need to be logged into a Microsoft account. The widgets (aha) are online only [currently] when logged in.

EDIT: Regarding a previous comment I made where I said if I could not turn 99% of the telemetry off and all invasive built-in S/W I would go to a MAC, I was serious. Turning it off on a MAC is easy if you know how to use Linux commands and chmod 0 in the MAC terminal because the access goes way down to the very base, unlike windows (which is probably why they have gone to the secure boot and TPM).

It's basically a Win 10 update, but for some reason they are splitting the code base now? What's the point? It's not even the much hyped modular version of Windows that was supposed to run on any hardware. This looks like pure marketing, 11 meaning nothing.

From an audio point of view Microsoft are still lagging behind Mac and their core audio. Windows audio still restricted by developer drivers. RME offer the best usb drivers but their interfaces don't suit everyone. Any improvements in real-time-audio would have been greatly appreciated but as always they go after the gamers!
Nothing to be gained for audio and recording world.

I hear what you are saying but you have missed one crucial thing and both O/S's have something good to offer.
While Windows used to suffer drastically from memory errors in DAW's vs MAC, MAC still can get severe audio engine errors if overloaded with inserts/plugins. In terms of stability, Fiber Local Storage (FLS) since version 1903 of Win 10 and apparently improved and even more stable in Win 11, kicks MAC's ass for the sheer amount of inserts / vst's and instruments it can have versus MAC before a system will fall over. No O/S is flawless, not even Linux.

Does our / my future look like this:

1 x Notebook or PC "online" (without anything, only the bare essentials)
1 x Windows 7 "offline" PC with a PCI sound card (due to missing driver updates)
1 x Windows 10 "offline" PC with USB audio interface

Hello @thantrax, which motherboard do you use and how old is it? I see you have "No Secure Boot" and no TPM. Windows' goal is to make computers safer. Without these features For example, your computer is classified as "Insecure", a gateway for hackers ".

Hello @thantrax, actually we have very modern software and hardware. Windows 11 just makes higher demands.
You could switch on "Secure Boot" in Bios :

How to enable Secure Boot in BIOS?
    Please follow the steps below:
1.) Boot and press [F2] to enter BIOS.
2.) Go to [Security] tab > [Disabled] and set as [Default Secure boot on]

You could switch your hard drives from "MBR" to " GPT ":

GPT or MBR? (The Red One " Disc Partition Type)
GPT can address larger hard drives, manage more partitions and is much more robust against data and partition loss. It is also downward compatible with restrictions. Yes, programs and Windows sometimes give you the choice of whether you want to partition a new hard disk in MBR or GPT style. But basically that is the choice of whether you would like to have an Opel Corsa from 1990 or a 5 Series BMW from 2019 plus a 90 Series Corsa.
Hence the short version: GPT should be the style of your choice! And you can change that later, for example with the EasUS Partition Master Free. Note: Unfortunately, the free version of the tool no longer offers an option to convert MBR to GPT. Alternatively, there is the Windows 10 integrated MBR2GPT. Detailed documentation is available directly from microsoft.com.

TPM (look on your Mainboard) see the picture...
Boot into windows go to control panel / bitlocker / TPM admin. If it says its ready then you can use it. Altho depending on the revision of the TPM module, it will have probs if you installed a 3.19 TPM module. It wont boot sometimes, if you installed the Creators update. You have to install a TPM 2 module if the Creators update is installed.

I mean if you for example open a file any other application , it will always use (one of the dozends, or slightly modified) the OS. Eg save a preset from a VST. Or save a song in a DAW etc ,,. Anyways if it works for you awesome !

I also have a GigaByte Z170X motherboard. For TPM 2.0 it accepts a tiny module you have to purchase and install. Unfortunately, everyone is out of stock that I've come across for the module and of course they are all jacking up the price! Even if you manage to get the TPM 2.0 module you'll still fail the CPU check. :( This is crazy since the system still runs really good here! Hopefully MS has second thoughts on these requirements for the final release or hackers provide us with a work around like we have now for the 11 Leak!
