Well, I don't publish software on the store so take this with a grain of salt, but the WS had a massive limitation previously in that it was difficult to publish non-UWP apps (big companies of course have the advantage here) and UWP is not a well liked platform, therefore most developers avoided the store in the first place due to said restriction, and then no-one would go there because it was easier/better to get software elsewhere. Then the whole game pass thing happened so it had no reason to have games there either. As such the whole platform languished.

Now this restriction (and a whole lot of others) have been lifted and apparently they've straightened out other kinks. We'll see.

Me, I don't care, if winget works as I'd expect that's enough for me. I've got the leaked .iso but can't be arsed to try it out (in a VM) myself just yet.

    I think Visually it's a bit poor/rudimentary,
considering MS has been doing systems for Decades..

However it's an improvement in the sense it kinda combines some of W10 elements,
with more classic W7 aero kinda stuff..

But yeah, in the end that's what Classic Start Menu/Window Blinds are for!

More crucial to me will be to know how's the Update system being implemented..
Is it Good and Proper like what W7 (and all before them) had?

Or is it Automatic/unmanageable and overall Shitty like W10?
Is it My operating system, or is it MS's Trojan system?

That's basically why I'm still using W7, lack of Control over the Updates/stuff..

But yeah, at some point it will be necessary to upgrade the system and get a proper Ryzen and stuff,
so it will be cool if for once they did a proper job with the Updates.

However that's for Music/Professional use tho,
if it wasn't for that, and because music software still runs better/more reliably natively..
I would've converted to Linux a long time ago.

lets see if we can finally display foldersizes inline in explorer :)
And will we get a fluent design explorer, with unified os file dialogs and a darkmode without white glitches ?

Installed the preview on VM last night.

Hope springs eternal that this isn't the final product. While the boot felt spiffy enough, the UI choices in my opinion are terrible. It isn't a cohesive design at all. MS has removed the Start menu Tiles so you cannot group items, they seem to have the expectation that people will remember what they are searching for and use that instead.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Start_ShowClassicMode DWORD=0x1 will bring it back, but it's still a jarring change.

You can move the taskbar icons back to the left but it should ask during install or something.

They seem to have a deal with Adobe now, it's now optionally installed. (it initially was called PS Elements, then when installed it says it's Photoshop Express but it's more like Lightroom)

I had higher hopes for a full-point release from MS at this point. It's literally lipstick on a pig. It's like some insane baby of Windows, Chromebook and OSX but with random choices and poor design.

So far to me has windows 10 has been immaculate to make music. I hope they don’t inflate it trying to sell merchandise within the system

if Microsoft wants to keep mac at distance they better start paying attention to the artist community, it’s us who establish that cool factor that then spreads to the regular consumer

I'd actually say Microsoft is aware of their bloat being unwanted - this Windows 11 preview actually runs very smooth and snappy...at least so far - but I have it offline without internet access :)

Wow, that’s good news. you mean even better than 10 somehow?

I haven’t had time to even check what 11 is all about, so it’s all news to me

From the leak video(s, only watched one), it seems that Microsoft has borrowed Linux and Apple OS features.
will be interesting to see what the final release will give us.

Will we get a true Pro or Pro Workstation version?
    Will software performance improve?
Will there be compatibility issues with professional apps/programs?

    Hoping for the best...

it feels faster, running with 2 cpu cores and 8GB ram, the ram usage idle is around 1.8GB so no improvement in that regard, disk usage of VM is just under 10GB (my "Lite" Windows 10 was less than 5GB, but usually Windows 10 takes around 20GB) but overall no lags, even with no additional VM drivers installed
