Just to say that that last night I watch the first chapter and really liked it: zero cheap entertainment, full radical and direct to the head. Recommended.

Money means opportunities and investments, advancements in technology, its all connected.
USA/UK/Germany, those were the centers were a lot of money was invested into music and technology.
What do all these people in documentaries have in common, besides, obviously being very good songwriters and musicians?
Money that promoted them. Back then without Youtube and internet, no promotion meant you did not exist.

It's not that hard to go back to that period, and there's not more than just one simple solution. If digital is destroyed and everyone comes out of their homes, it'll all be all right again.

 

i would say that socially we are on the exact same path as in 1971
just, much further down the line

in 1971 market ideology and its economics, despite its already then obscene effects, was still a potent expanding model and hadn't yet managed to destroy popular culture. pop-art still reflected and vividly expressed peoples wish for change and struggles of that time like imperialist wars, social inequality, racism etc.

today, popular culture has gone through a further crude level of degeneration and is pretty much beaten to death by the current economical model

artists too are scarred by these market-cultural influences therefor for instance you see very timid and few thoughts of change expressed in commercial popular culture, in movies, pop music in general. current artists have adopted the concept of art as a simple vehicle for enrichment. and im talking about the whole production line from the songwriter, producer all the way up

art comes last in the business chain, therefor for instance peace messages in u.s commercial movies or pop music are practically banned, simply not considered, this is something you can often hear expressed by actors and song-artists in alternative documentaries and interviews

in the 70s, artists who felt the illnesses of their time expressed their protest through art with passion. today, at a very late stage of putrefaction of this economical model artists express mostly a depressed/stressed or a egotistical individualistic state of mind, there isn't much of any solidarity, dreams, or any altruistic ideals expressed.

popular art/pop culture is a fatal victim in this race to the bottom. still, in spite of all, we are the ones that are going to change this, just not with the help of any pop soundtrack in the background as in the 70s. our situation is much more dire than back then and therefor is also the need to break with this cancerous model twice as urgent. the ball is rolling though, and i think we are on our way

It is the strong training and education systems. In countries with no strong educational system, people learn music with trial and error. Maybe people can learn music by looking at tutorial videos, but I think this can only be effective to some extent in learning music. Videos can't replace the training system, because a lot of things aren't said in videos.

How many countries have powerful systems?

 

For example, if you want to master a guitar perfectly, you need about 9 years. Talent and at least 4 hours of practice required. At that time you have to work to earn money, preferably a job related to music. Small live concerts can help pay the installments for the equipment. no matter where you look, whether it's writers or actors, only the best sit down and live from it. So you should do what you do best.

 

Oh wise one - please tell us all (again!) how you plan to FOSTER our learning

 

Why do you repeat this word? No one can replace the powerful training system.

I'm not talking about becoming an instrumentalist. Becaming an instrumentalist needs tutor and practicing but making great music requires educational systems.
