simple and not simple (just a trick , found by some russian guys) , which means also it takes a long long time to make this ! most user wouldn´t even understand how too ... and you would probably give up by making this too

ok ! i asked if it was a way you could do it inside kontakt ! so lets say only licensed library developers can do this the ''legal'' way ?

not even licensed developer can do this , they needs to send their Librarys to NI and only NI encodes the Librarys for developer , and these developer needs to pay a license fee (which are really not cheap) to NI that these Libs can be used in free Kontakt Player and shows in the Library Tab !

    check this ! 17th post

well im not sure ! is it for the samples to pack them to .nkx .nkc or just the files that will allow you to add the library with the add library ?

one more question ! how do we know which libraries can be compressed and which not ? in my case with Vir2 acoustic legends hd the samples were packed as
.nkx .nkc but the audio samples inside were waves and not ncw compressed format ! one way you can tell is when the instrument is loading if its says ...... .wav
but some load very fast and nothing appears ! others load wihout any info on the loading window !

the nkc/nkx file format is the old compression method. the new compression method is the ncw.

if you don't like the folder structure choose 'Collect Samples and create new destination folder structure' instead of 'mirror' when using the 'collect samples/batch compress' function. this will put all samples in one folder (Collected Samples/sample1.ncw, Collected Samples/sample2.ncw).

Technically speaking, nkx and nks archives are NOT compressed. The samples inside may or may not be (whether they are wav/aiff or ncw). Nkc is just a pointer.
nkx/nks stores uncompressed data in encrypted form, much like encrypted rar archives packed with "store" method

Each archive can have maximum filesize of 2GB *yes*

wrong .nkx are Container which can contains wav , aiff or ncw files ! nkc are an cache file which tells kontakt which samples in the container , otherwise kontakt would needs to scan the nkx container everytime !

and .ncw are Native Instruments own lossless compressed audio format !

thats how i knew the story and frank confused me a bit ! well the structure is not a serious problem i can live with that ! but i somehow like that the samples are packed and cannot be modified ! any info on how we figure which libraries can be compressed ? any disadvantages on compressing them ?

You can compress any library with non-legit Kontakt since v5.0.3
The only disadvantage is that when you want to pack your library to multiple RARs (or 7Zs), the final compression ratio is much worse than with WAVs.
    For example - uncompressed library is 22GB, ncw-compressed 14GB
If you pack the uncompressed one, the rars will be about 6-7GB, but if you pack the ncw-compressed one, you'll get 14GB again

Yes it is, but you can extract samples from the nkx archives.
I meant - Kontakt 5.0.3 and higher will allow you to extract nks/nkx archives and therefore compressing even uncompressed libraries (like LASS 1.5, Morphestra, ...)
or to remove mic positions for example and thus reducing size

BTW, my recommendation - don't use new Kontakt unless you have to. Resaved patches cannot be opened with older versions, no WXP support from NI (well yes, 5.2.1 works on XP, but it's not officially supported), resource files (nkr) are always saved with absolute paths, and also several UI functions cannot be saved with the patch:

Due to a bug in Kontakt 5.2.1, the time-stretch voice limit cannot be saved as part of an instrument. This is why all speed-enabled textures have just one of three mics activated, to keep polyphony low.

    (source: ProjectSAM)

I'm more than happy with 5.1.0 and 5.0.3

well thanks ! i know that older kontakt do not open newer libraries but kontakt updates are still active so kontakt 6 its not too far... and i havent noticed any serious problem with 5.2.1 ! only in some cases the keys are still holding down when i release them...
