hi, i have an old Kontakt Library from our Sister Site, Ilya Efimov Nylon Guitar, i have made a nicnt file with the Nicnt maker from the Sister site too.
The library is made with Kontakt 4

The Gui from the Library is not displayed correctly ,it looks like this :
    kontakt.png

is there a workaround that the GUI is displayed correctly ?

I can confirm the same happens here,
with version 1.0.9 (2015/16), original ncint,
and both latest K5 & K6, Reaper and Windows 7..

In fact I don't recall the GUI ever working,
    unlike Duduk which works perfectly.

This is probably an issue that happens with older Kontakt libraries. I had this happen to me with a library. The library I'm talking about is AcousticsampleS Kawai-EX PRO. The GUI loads up fine in Kontakt v5, but it gets messed up in Kontakt v6.

Interesting! Yes, that's the library. But it seems to be bit different from what I have. Mine looks like this in Kontakt 5:
    k5 1.PNG k5 2.PNG
Notice the "Settings" tab at the bottom?

This is how it looks in Kontakt 6:
    k6 1.PNG k6 2.PNG

Also, is the nicnt file self-made?

Same thing on my end, after some update it almost like half the libraries images poofed out of existence.

Originally (2013) library was a multiformat. So in it´s time should be more than one version. I got it since 2017 but I can´t remember if reduced to Kontakt or was Kontakt ready yet. There was a K4 version so... who knows?

The question is not the GUI, is the library. There are at least two versions about, The good and the bad. You can see the bad one (this) and you can see the good, this:

Difference between both. Find the version with this structure in the Samples Folder:

That´s the right version. Torrent, of course.

Oh sorry I misunderstood you. Some of my libraries turn up uncompatible as well. I have no idea why, it's double frustrating when the samples aren't out in its bare wav format so I can just use them in my own sampler.

Yes, the one I have is the multiformat release from 2013. I got it from the "sister site". The patches do say "K4" at the end of the name, so they probably were made for Kontakt 4.

While I understand that not having the bare samples in WAV format might be frustrating, there are a few advantages to not having them outside like that. Firstly, the NCW format saves a lot of space. There's at least a 30% reduction in size when converted to NCW, and depending on the content, the number can go up to 60% as well. And next, in my experience, having the samples packaged in .NKX containers speeds up the loading times by a lot.

There are libraries like Ilya Efimov, LASS and several others that need to be "installed" which means you need to put the library's GUI elements in Kontakt's pictures folder.
As the 4th poster discovered it.

Interesting, I suppose this is the case with older libraries? Also, when you say LASS, you mean the original LASS and not the LASS 2, right?

    LASS 2

Edit: it was the GUI for the multi which was called ARC, and not the GUI for the instrument patches.
For the best result you needed to use the ARC. Those essential features (Color and Stage) became available for the individual patches only in LASS2.5.

Ah OK. I've had LASS for some time, but didn't need to put the pictures anywhere, so I asked. I've never really messed with ARC. I've heard it makes it's a bit difficult to set up. Is that so?

Thanks for the heads up, I don't know shit about fuck when it comes to Kontakt libraries. So I had no idea this thing that was pissing me off isn't such a bad thing after all since it consolidates your data down.

I usually use Kontakt in the most straight forward way, for example if I need to actually mangle the sample my own way then I always put it into another sampler instead for ease. It impresses what some of you do under the hood of Kontakt though.

    Now you know!

And also, if you do need to work with the sample content, it's not that difficult. You can convert the files from NCW to WAV from Kontakt itself, by loading up an NKI, clicking "Save as", and then in the options, checking "Patch + Samples" and unchecking "Compress samples".

However, there is a more elegant way to do this using a few tools. Follow these threads to know more:
inNKX: Tool to create Kontakt NKX and NICNT files (with wallpaper embedded) and more
conNCW – A Tool for NCW <–> WAV Conversion

Oh shit you just blew my mind! I just saved all your links. I thought I was shit out of luck when it came to the consolidated formats but now I have a way out of it. That's so awesome, thanks a lot man!

Kontakt kind of intimidates me with the abundance of options which is why do my creative sampling with other samplers as I came to Kontakt much later than everyone else it seems. I treat my kontakt libraries more like a conductor treats an orchestra but I have seen producers to some really deep & creative things with their copy that puzzled me silly.

Happy to help! Agree that Kontakt can be very intimidating and not the best tool for all cases. You can do so much with scripting, it's crazy. I too mostly use it as a sample player, however it's fun to mess with scripting once in a while.

Honestly that's the reason I've never really messed with. Any resources you'd recommend to get more familiar with it?
