Does Max live Midi LFO work correctly?

    I tried it today

every now and then for no reason the rate and frequency went to fully on even though the knobs were still reading the value i set them on.

    Is this a known bug?

How stable is Max for live MIDI lfo?

    Cheers

It always works fine for me, the only issue I've had with any M4L stuff is that I can't get it to target the cross fader, is this particular control off limits to plug ins? I can easily assign it via MIDI...

Sometimes the midi LFO sync rate will not be stored correctly in a project. So for instance if you've set it to 1/16th, save the project and re-load the project, the rate will be blazing away at a default 1/48 setting. This is a well known bug. To fix it, edit the LFO device, and right click -> inspect.. the Sync rate button, and click the check box "automated and stored". Then save/overwrite the device.
9 out of 10 crashes for me with Live 9 Suite is caused by M4L devices, so I wouldn't call it stable just yet. M4L does introduce some very cool possibilities though, so overall it's worth all the crying and agonizing over ruined projects.

This was supposedly fixed in their latest version. Which build are you using?

Oh I wasn't aware Ableton/Cyclin74 had addressed the issue. I just knew it was an annoyance on the first many versions of 6.1.x. I believe I have the latest version installed (the .exe says it's v. 6.1.3.4820.), I haven't explored it much yet though, due to the fact that it's crashing my current project on start up so I've had to deactivate / rename the Max folder for now.

Nothing timing related works properly on Ableton, as it doesn't have proper PDC. The more plugins you add, the more out of sync your project gets.

Could you elaborate on that a bit? That bug has kept me from using this useful device, but it's rather pointless if you open a project and the settings are gone.

I cannot find that check box "automated and stored" within the editor. :dunno:

Yeah I had a mess about.

    Midi lfo.
-playing fast midi notes caused the rate and depth to go to full. Even though the knobs showed the original values.

    Midi adsr envelope
    -set on re trigger.
-ending on different values. After each trigger
    -very odd behaviour.

It all seems a bit hit or miss?

And I read somewhere about it not saving.

Sorry mate, I missed your post. Anyways bugs og no bugs, Robert Henke from Monolake, the same guy that made Granulator, released a free LFO 2.0 during the holidays, and it's way cooler than the default LFO :

I haven't experienced any problems with it. It's not an improvement of the default device, its an entirely different beast.

If you don't know yet, you guys should check K-Devices. They got very cool M4L devices and particularly EXT2, which is a beast of modulator, which can obviously modulate everything in Live .

    Cheers
