I have Wacom Tablet here and i read it can be used as midi device in Ableton, somebody tried it?

The Wacom Tablet is quite new.

Any ideas? Which software could work?

Im on Windows 10 and have Ableton 10.

This could be fun, I have a few older Wacom tablets that are just laying around an Intuos and a Bamboo touch, I will see on Dr. Google but if anyone has some first hand info that would be great.

I've got a Logitech Joystick that I use sometimes [yeah, lol I know], but it does give you a different feeling. I've been thinking about a Wacom tablet since I think it could be put to a good use because it's more precise. You give it a try. The thing is - what to use to translate it into MIDI messages? Reaper recognises joysticks right off the bat, but a tablet? I don't think so. And you're using Live, so you definitely need some kind of a software translator. I see you're on track finding some.

I'll keep an eye on this thread. Never enough of MIDI controllers. All are good in some ways. :P

I mean, the worst thing to do is to input your notes with a mouse... it's just ridiculous. No feelings, no timing, no anything.

@SineWave i have a midi controller here, but i just want a different feeling.

actual Max could handle the translation, but i havnt found something decent. And it looks like in 2007 people actual did something in that direction and then it suddenly stopped ...

But that's iOS not Wacom, right?

Don't get me wrong, touchOSC is fucking fantastic and I use it all the time.

people are using these things with max since 30 years, but since a while there is no more support for them (i think there is no 64 bit build of the max externals - and it wont work as HID), which is a pity because otherwise you could do the rest with a simple max4live device which would allow you to configure things as you wish.

what is certainly possible since live 10 is that you can use a wacom as your mouse, namely in "absolute mouse mode", which is called something with "tablet" now.

yeah i can imagine. Actual yeah as mouse it works right of the box, but i would like to use it to interpret the pitch into MIDI directly.
So X-axis to pitch and Y maybe panning or the other way around?
and pressure controls cutoff, velo, etc?
I dont really know how to do this :/

How about we try to create a Max4Live prset together, which can work with Wacom Tablet or possible other tablets?

my experience with Max is very limited, but maybe others know more?

So it seems (iOS), but I saw a windows version. Other than that I don't know. I agree it's too much trouble for your use, just in case it worls

Well u dont take any advantage of the Tablet stuff so far with that.

if you had a working driver you could use the tablet in addition to a mouse and it would support the whole live object model including VST parameters, video or whatnot.

"new" wacom support is on many peoples´wish list but it seems nobody has the balls. :)

the last known max externals is this one https://github.com/CNMAT/CNMAT-Externs/tree/master/externals/controllers/wacom

but on mac it only supports 2 out of 3 dimensions (either no pressure or no vertical/horizontal)

(and of course to make use of it you need max4live and basic knowlegde about it.)

This is perhaps a long shot but there's a generic input device (HID) to MIDI module in Plogue Bidule.
In theory you can use any input device. Mouse, keyboard and joystick/gamepad work right off the bat.

It auto-maps the parameters (mouse wheel, joystick button etc etc). But being a graphic table more unusual I don't know if it'd work. Worth a shot?
