One of my alltime Favourites. On the first Inner City Album "Paradise" (1989) was also the other Smash-Hit "Good Life", and some other great Dance Tracks.

    Good Life

    I like this thread.

Surprised not to see (no results in search) this horrible and marvelous nuclear bomb into acid house scene.

Guys I appreciate your contributions but if the posting of music from other decades other than the 80's continues I will get the moderators involved. @Flex Rabbit and @celtic3342 please remove your non 80s posts. Thanks.

This is one of those songs which still sounds fresh regardless of the time that has passed since its release. one of the few downtempo songs that always found a spot in my HI NRG club sets.

Empress.. Found it! Yet another one I had on cassette that I didn't know the name of.
1981, mixed by Francois Kevorkian, written by members of the Crown Heights affair, bass played by the great Sandy Anderson. First, set your level to 11, put your dancing shoes on. Then hit play..

If someone has it in good quality, preferably the 8 minute 12", please!

Edwin Birdsong, keyboard player and producer
Various collaborations with Stevie Wonder and Roy Ayers, he was lightyears ahead

Edwin Birdsong - Rapper Dapper Snapper (1980)

It is impossible for me to listen to this song in the car: it happens that I get sucked into the vibe and I can risk the accident..
Mr Birdsong is no longer with us today, but still his music continues to play for the new generations: the backbone of "Stronger faster" by Daft Punk is one of his songs.

    This:

Edwin Birdsong - Cola Bottle Baby (1979)

Prelude Records: you can’t go wrong with that label
The legend tells that Kevorkian had his own recording studio inside the Studio 54 building and captured its essence for the productions

We are now connecting live with @The Pirate who will tell us more details about the story
All this and more ...after the break: stay with us

When searching I found this 7 hour (!) long 'radioshow' by Francois where he plays his greatest Prelude tracks,
and tells stories about them. Lol, he doesn't show to be the greatest beatmixer, his mixing was of a different kind..

FK did not start as a DJ. He was a drummer who became a DJ after successfully remixing records for Prelude. Indeed, FK did not even care about beat-mixing. He was inspired by David Mancusso from The Loft who hated beat matching. Anyone that visited The Loft can tell you that there was not even a mixer. David played one record, letting it run out,and replacing it on the same turntable by the next one. FK opted for a similar approach at his "Body and Soul" parties on Sundays. There was no beat-mixing.
True as to the first part. The second part is pure BS. Dy the time FK opened his recording studio in 1988, Axis Studios, Studio 54 was history. Indeed, the "real" Studio 54 closed its doors in February of 1980. The second Studio 54 owned by mark Fleischman was sold in 1984 and closed its door in 1986. :dunno:

    Bäääng ! i'm still flashed by that 7 hours Prelude Records documentary . . . (i love that FK-EP a1 track from mid 90's)

and then Mr.Lee , Tyree Cooper (delivering Pizzas . . . his own words in an interview at VIVA-House TV that time, but with an international contract, he said), "The Londoner" (Rebel MC) , Beatmasters , Fast Eddie . . . on and on . . . really many Hearts !

brings up memories (not only Hip-House) :

    "alternative Philly Classic" 1983

1989 House Music Is My Life

    1988 Yo Yo

    1989 Let It Roll

    1989 Ska Train
