Most daws have Groove files \ function... Im using Studio One.. It, of course has same function inside the piano roll.

Unfortunately, unlike most DAWS their groove files are located on the 'Exchange" which.. I do not have access to.

Does anyone have any suggestions where to find similar, midi based grooves that will work in Studio one....

All the other DAW's groove files are in a propriety format and cannot be used in S1

Too bad we dont have access to all the Presonus Exchange files.. I suppose its one incentive to buy, You would think someone would have posted that stuff.

    Thanks Guys ! :mates:

    @ One Reason,

A first suggestion would be to take these provided within other of your used DAWs (for instance : Cubase, as it contains several provided as 'Factory MIDI Grooves Templates'), then simply create your own 'Studio One' Templates by copying their proper Settings and/or specific Patterns (the Settings and/or Patterns related to these 'MIDI Grooves' only, of course, not all the stuff related to the 'Cubase' proprietary Format).
It could be seen as a fastidious task, but in the other hand, if you're not an 'expert' with Rhythm & Tempo Signatures, you can then learn a bit more about this topic at the same time... *yes*
Nothing better, from my point of view, than analyze, copy, create some Rhythm/Tempo Signatures a bit more complex than the pure 4/4 to understand (and feel !) them. *yes*

Another suggestion would be to get, among the thousands of 'MIDI Grooves' available within some Developers Collections/Libraries, their 'MIDI Grooves Templates' that will suit your needs or tastes. As an example (but not the only one !), 'Toontrack' has a really HUGE Collection of 'MIDI Grooves', that you can use for that purpose, mainly because these have been created from a 'Drummer', 'Percusionnist',... point of view.

Ok, well.. the problem with other DAWs is that their files aren't Midi, they are for example.. Ableton.. .agr files.... same with all the other DAWs..

However, Are you saying ANY midi file will work?

I mean i have BILLIONS of midi's, I just assume these types of files had some kind of embedded groove info inside that made them special  :dunno:

Well, I don't know diddly-squat about Studio One, but in Live you can just drag a midi file into a midi track, load a plug and then play that midi file. (and change it of course)
I guess you should be able to do this in any DAW :dunno:

    @ One Reason,

I just found an interesting article about 'MIDI Grooves' within 'Studio One', but I'm not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for (?) :dunno:

Moreover, it seems that this function is not (or no more) available within 'Studio One', whereas it seems that's always available, for example, within 'LOGIC'.

The best is that you directly take a look at this article, here you have :

    'Groove Templates' for Quantize

Hope it help in some way...

Aha, you're talking about that quantizing stuff... but isn't that something different than midi?

It actually isnt.. u can use a normal midi file in Studio One to effect the timing of another midi, Its the same thing in Live, Cubase, Sonar etc, but they just use their own propriety type files, I assume so people cant just take and use in another DAW (like i wanted to)

Anyway, normal midi files are doing the trick for me, dragged right into the "groove" box in the S1 Piano roll.

Interesting. I never even tried that. But I haven't really used those agr files either. You learn a little something every day.
So the agr files are actually midi that Ableton converted somehow?
