Hopping i posted well i wanna share this idea that runs through my mind for some time... I'd wish Catalyst to create another subforum for us where we can share our unused projects files between us ...we all have such in our computers...ideas that maybe we will never finish so why not leave them to anyone else to finish them... We all get to that point that we run out off ideas and move on... Personally i have a bunch of unfinished ones and i would share them... This could be divided into MAC & PC... then categorized by genres so the search could be easier... I guess we would be the firsts to make such plus I'm sure it will be very fun to continue others ideas... Maybe sounds complicated?

Catalyst let me know what you think about this, thanks !

I really like your idea and my suggestion for the best way of making it happen would be to start a post for each new thing you're sharing and when you have some under your belt we'll make the section. Otherwise what ends up happening is I will make a section and it sits empty. Others can help speed up this process by joining in with their own shares. Simply label posts with (Project Share) so we can locate them.

Interesting idea, besides getting stuck on a project at certain point is quiet frequent situation, and external intervention could give the little push needed for the project to continue its life.

Xsze You are right, some project may be difficult to prepare for sharing, but others no. The recorded ones, with true instruments, are much simpler to share.

Obviously a project with a lot of kontakt nkis and effect and so, may really be heavy to prepare.

But before looking at the eventual complications, let's imagine a situation where listening to the shared project you instantly feel what you can do with it.
This could be enough motivation to look for and install what ever needed, so the user who shares don't need to bounce down, and you keep the project at maximum flexibility.

Ay this is a great idea dudes!!!
If you guys need help starin this up im down man. I have alot more unfinished FL project files than I could ever count.
I also have TONS of wav. stems because I have a old pc that cant run more than 2 instances of massive without drowing in runs. So I have to bounce out alot of wav. files that I never end up using.

I got some high quality stuff too. Here's my soundcloud for reference purposes.

Ok, so let's start, this is what Catalyst moderator says:
I would add: put the name of the DAW you use in the post and any important spec.

yes we could start new topic in the chosen topic genre writing down what DAW, plugins and other stuff is used in the project ...we don't need separate sections for DAWs just genres ...ill make an example:

....lets say im in TRANCE section: i have this TRANCE Example.rar project for Ableton live 9 ...i use Sylenth 1, Predator, Omnisphere, Softube FET Compressor, Soundtoys Filterfreak 2, Variety of sound FerricTDS,Fabfilter Volcano, DMGAudio EQ (name one) and lots of Ableton plugs ...i leave the link and thats should be about it

...obviously when you share make sure you save with the files you use into the project, otherwise we get nowhere ...

PS: glad you like this, this could very informative and fun ...

This could be very interesting from a technical aspect too because there's been a few times where I'd hear a synth sound in a construction kit sample pack that came with flp's & I bought em just to see what vsti/vst effects they were using. I've also gotten different ideas for how to setup layouts/templates from different packs as well that have come in handy in improving workflow for me.

Very good idea for a variety of reasons. I have a ridiculous amount of unfinished "Ideas". Once I get stuck, I have to save & move to somethin fresh immediately because hearin the same loop of what I have done already playin while tryin to figure out where to go next can make me hate a beat if I let it go on too long. Better to just save & get somethin fresh. Comin back & finishin is the hard part for me.

    This is insane...

Everyone use specific DAW and specific arsenal of au/vst units...

Only way is to bounce each channel individualy into wav/aiff files, just to import in sequencer and watch what happens, what kind of arrangement is etc... listen ideas etc...

Maybe individualy midi files too, just midi files. I can use anything to produce saw pad or square pluck etc...

... one thing I perceive all the time is people here are to lazy to make little videos for making specific sound, little tech tips, or just screenshots etc... especially the ones with macosx... including me :)

( note: macosx natively include, one of the best screen capture capability with quicktime, this is not for pc/mac war, but that's pure truth... I have both daw's )

Infact, there is a tons of threads like this "how to make this type of sound" and members react like this:

    this is simple

    - use kick drum and put lots of reverb and gain transients...

every production has it own spices and secrets, and not just always simple as it sound.. maybe it is, but a little trick can dramaticaly change overall sound and those are the things where little demonstration / example is welcome.

If you listen every song, kick/bass sounds great and it's simple ! but when you try to recreate - first thing is to find specific kick sounds that fits original sound, second is layer thing.. maybe that kick is layered with 2 or more kicks, third thing is compression and finally overall mastering proces... isn't just simple :)

...well no one forces no one to try someone's project ...if the person who shares it and describe it in detail winch plugs he/she used in the actual project i see no trouble ...obviously you must be some kind of a person who likes to experiment and to work/share thoughts and experience with others ...if not stay home ...i see this as a quick way to make musicians friends in the same genres, i see this as an opportunity for collaborations ...would be nice if we can use somewhat service to preview 1 minute of the main idea like soundcloud or u name it ...

...please add your opinions on how we could improve this and make it happen as i see you all like the idea ...thank you all! :mates:

No I know I wasn't trying to insinuate that you weren't, I was just stating that puts a little dent in that plan.

Essential items for the project author:

    Project Name (DAW - Genre)

    1-Mix down of the track
2-Midi (if any) of each track with some details regarding each VSTi used.
This will make the project useful for users of all DAWs.
3-Stems/Bounced tracks (if any), some details about the effect chain
    4-Project file.
