i got an audient id44 last summer and sold my apogee duet for it. i was in need of some more input channels and adat connection. it sounds super smooth and im more then happy with it. the driver issues i got with the apogee before got me nuts some times.

The Babyface Pro FS is just over a year old, and they will still be updating the drivers in 10 years time.

BFP FS works well with amp sims, and has very good RT latency. You do play guitar right? It's also extremely portable, so playing out in the garden is an option :)

I have heard great things about the Antelope converters, but I have always thought “just go RME”. I have the ID14, and it’s great, so I’m not sure if it’s just GAS at this point!

And yes, I’m a guitarist, don’t need loads of inputs, but obviously both are expandable through ADAT if I need to. Mainly record VSTs and guitar. Tempted to go up a step RME wise and get a UCX, but don’t know if overkill, just keeping options open, or more GAS!

I'm actually thinking of getting the antelope zen go. It has built in DSP and seems to have good specs on paper.

This post to me was so enlightening.
I love (to an extent) my Motu M4, been through even with the shitty BF Pro FS (I hated its sound) but this Digiface with something like the Audient ASP800 ( is there one like this but that can go up to 192 Khz? ) and maybe a DAC (like Schiit's Bifrost or something like that) it could be the "ultimate" "interface" setup. ( I already own Headphones amps and monitors).

Edit: Oh yeah, Focusrite Scarlett and Clarett 8 pres go up to 192khz. Neat.

Well, due to the delays in the production pipeline due to covid and not knowing when the BBF Pro FS is going to be available, and a daily search of UK shops selling, I bought a UFXii with £100 off as it was a return along with an ARC USB and its being delivered tomorrow. So spent slightly over double what I had planned!! Blaming you for the whole thing with your “RME RME RME RME” reply! My credit card hates you right now

I plan to, just awaiting the realisation that I will generally only record maybe 4 channels at once and have spent sooo much. Fuck it, long time in the ground.

    Just to be annoying:
For that kind of money you could have gone Merging Anubis with a used Audient ASP800 with the fab. HMX&Iron Boosters
Or Used RME + Ferrofish A16 + Elektron heat
and finally that price is dam near close to Cranborne 500R8
but probably aslo a money pit:disco:

Wanted RME, always worry about used stuff, but cannot wait to track some guitars with it.

I have been thinking about that one my self. I heard there are some issues with he drivers.
With all the youtube BS going on these days it's hared to get a straight answer on any device.

I tested the quantum 2626 and was very disappointed. Lots of aggressive highs and mids. Indistinct bass.
The software provided sucks. No routing or direct monitoring. The drivers are unstable and it often crashes whereas my Discrete 4 never crashes since the new versions of the Launcher.
Sometimes the sound cuts out between two applications with the Quantum (DAW and VLC for example).
The speed of Thunderbolt is not a selling point if the sound card is bad.The difference in latency with my discrete4 is minimal with an i9 9900k Oc to 5ghz with 64 gigs of ram at 4200 Mhz.
The low and high frequencies on the discrete4 are excellent because the clock is good like RME.
The best long term drivers are at RME.
The headphone returns on the Quantum are also poor on bass and aggressive on high frequencies.
I have two Thunderbolt 3 ports and have been switching regularly between the Quantum and the Discrete. It's clear: Antelope is definitely better.
Did the Quantum have a problem? I don't know but I sent it back.
It's frustrating because it's a Thunderbolt 3 card with 8 inputs, many outputs. Adat, Worldclock BNC, insert for hardware. It's not expensive but it's not enough. Sound first!

My experience with the Quantum has been excellent, but I have Presonus Quantum 26x32 not 2626. Complaining about it not having direct monitoring is pretty strange since that is commonly known, and clearly stated in the information. It is actually a selling point that you can play/record with "zero" latency while triggering a plugin in your DAW. So Presonus argument is that you don't need direct monitoring or dsp plugins because of "zero" latency. If you must have direct monitoring/standalone device the Quantum is not for you.
On the other hand I have seen a lot of people having trouble with Antelope's thunderbolt devices on Windows:
