so did I get this correctly?

You will be able to have a vst version of the virus for example without any hardware ?and with the same sound and functionality??

if that's the case then it's insane!!!

    Not enough quality, sadly.

And even more. But remember that you're still legally required to own the original hardware :)

I own these synths, but when we could have a softsynth equivalent without the problems and limitations from the hardware ... :metal:

And I think it will be higher quality, not 24 bit thru wires into ADC, no noise..... So either 32 bit float or 64 bit float double... Yeah?)
    Built-in oversampling (x2-x8)?

I took a look at the repo(s) and still have one doubt. It's enough with that external SDK to compile to a (minimally) working VST?
When would you need the ROM and in which format/connection? I don't know arse about hardware synths.

The VST2 SDK is no problem.

maybe somebody could write the guy, if he has HQ pictures, which he could send?

Thats like with Apple OS stuff, which half of the Hackintosh community did now own. But to be fair that is still and we have to be careful.

Let's say that a working Virus C plugin was made -- would that mean that other DSP plugins would be much faster to create because the process was nailed down or would it be something entirely new each time?

so far i understand, we will have aworking vst plugin at the end, which in the inner emulates the DSP and the other stuff, so an emulated Virus c for example. But it will be a long way i guess, till they are there.

I understand! I guess I'm just curious if, if they have an emulated Virus C plugin, is that exclusively for that one hardware or the process is going to be different each time for every synth. Because if the process was the same for all synths and the only change is loading another ROM and a new GUI, like loading an emulated video game, that would really cut down on time. I suppose they won't know until they try.

You and me both. And a totally agree with a fundraiser to help fund the hardware synths or whatever else might be needed.

Yes. You'll need the ROM in order to get sound out of the VST, using a full copy of the EEPROM.
Getting that file would be up to you.

Probably yes. Let's keep in mind that at this moment the DSP emu itself has not been finished.
