SynthEdit doesn't mean bad! Adam Szabo's Viper's GUI was made in SynthEdit and it's a fantastic design that's easy and intuitive. But I do agree that even a mega simple Synth1-style gui would be more than acceptable. That's a synth with literally thousands of patches freely available and part of that comes down to it being very simple and easy to use.

My goodness. A Waldorf Q and Novation Supernova in my DAW. The dream may yet come true! I wish you guys success!

The "Synth1" comment from me was just a joke, it will be much much better ;)

When you have DSP emulation and ROM - how far away are we from a "working copy" of that synth we're looking for? So, TI2 ROM + DSP == TI2 VST ??
Furthermore, there are GUIs for existing hardware, e.g. TI2 or Nord Lead, so how much work is it to put these things together?
    We have DSP, ROM, GUI...

    I'm just curious...

i think he used something else - which was flowstone by DSP Robotics.

synthedit newer grew out of x86 so far i know and people never made any serious vsts with it.

im using synth1 actual here, very good freeware synth, kind of like it, but yeah i wouldnt mind such a gui, it would fit the purpose that getting the synths runnung is in the foreground.

While possible, being able to use the VTI VST would require USB Emulation. There's still a long road down there.
However, simply using the ROMs on their own emulated environments... is a different thing.

I definitely recommend looking at the Mystery Island editors for inspiration or possibly even talking with Jani. Even though his editors never worked well for me, it's undeniable his editors look visually very impressive. If there's any chance of possibly working with him or even leveraging his GUI's for the plugins, it might make the work even easier. He himself even said he had in mind to someday make native plugins based on some of these hardware synths, so there might be a possible relationship there.

i mean if Access came around with a VST version of a virus, i would with no doubt pay 200€ for it. the problem was always the price, have a brick of hardware next time (i mean the controls on the hardware looked always to small for me) and i came to late to get a TC Virus in the powercore (at the time - i had no money and was not even to deep into music).

Its clearly a new century in terms of synths, i mean when you look on roland - they managed in some way to recash their synths, while well i have a feeling access might die on the way ...
Hahha when Roland drops the JP8000, WTF this will be a day - im pretty sure this is on the last, the market is still huge, i mean the JP is still constant used by people ...

Thats why im looking forward to having to having such a copy as vst of a virus c for example. And what else synths we could get working this way :woot:

Tell me about it! even to this day, there is no official Virus plugin. A synth that was 'the' EDM dance synth for an extremely long time, with different versions since the 90s, and not one single plugin other than one made by a one-person company. It's so odd how historical many of these synths are, but you hear crickets coming from these companies. It might be that indie-projects really are the one way to get these off the ground.

I'm curious if the list from the first post is represents the whole list of possible synths or there's others? Yamaha AN1x perhaps?

We may have missed a few, people keep adding along the way :) The Yamaha AN1x does use a DSP, but from what I can see I dont think its a Motorola dsp563xx unfortunatley

The list from the first post represents a list of synths with the Motorola DSP56300 chipset.
Yamaha AN1x seems to use a completely different DSP, so you're out of luck here.

No worries there! even if that's the definitive list, no ands or buts about it, that's a fantastic collection of synths, all of which have zero native plugins currently available. That would be more than enough for any 90s/early 2k aficionado to get their kick. It certainly would for me!

Yep, they are missing a trick here for sure. The problem with it is the time it would take to convert all of the Virus Code over to another coding language such as C++ to take away the need for the DSP. Seems like a pretty big project from what I can gather

Hopefully they are working on it as we speak :)

It's just a list of the most relevant DSP56300 based synths.
There are also DSP56000 synths (like the Nord Lead 2) that weren't listed here.
