I see nobody reads old threads so I have to start a new one
So are there any new developments regarding free availability for trial purposes. I saw there are a bunch of how to videos on youtube, but I would like someone to confirm it works.
Recently I started arranging in Live and my whole world fell apart when i discovered how shitty it actually is. It sucks that I m gonna have to change a daw, took me a couple of years to get used to live.
I wanna give cubase a shot, never liked reason, fruity loops I used to play with when I was little so i cant take it seriously even though I know it changed.

Try Reaper instead. After trying I don't feel the need for using any other DAW.

Mate, if you don't have a little bit knowledge so leave please to spread here such bullshit.
Or your intention was just to left here your scent-mark???
who told you Cubase running only 24 hours as demo???
One month is the period, this is long enough to try something, or?

Maybe if you actually explain to the guys your

    1: Style of writing. (genre)
2: If you use loops mainly or not at all etc.
3: If you mainly need it for midi to vsti or a mixture of audio and midi etc.

They may be able to give you some working guidance to what DAW will suit you.

Eg: I use Cubase but i never load or use loops i strictly use it for some vsti and Real recording of other instruments, but that doesn't mean other DAW's don't do that, it's just that I've been using Cubase since late 80's and it's suited to my needs but not everyone's needs.

If you know what those needs are then please forward on the info.

    Cheers and best of luck.

I dont record live instruments, I m doing electronic music, so lots of vsts, I need precise and effortless automation, lots of minimum latency bussing etc. I dont use loops. From all the research that I did, I believe cubase should be the one for me. But has it been cracked

You can check Presonus Studio One 2.6 too, i learn almost all of it's features(i started with 2.0) and tricks in only 1-2 months. :mates: It got everythin' in your face. Very fast daw. Who dislike Studio-One or have the arguement sayin' that you can't make music with it means that he actually never touched this daw. I worked with alot of daws, but this one is not only intuitive, but also very efficient on your productions too, on a damn good price. I can honestly say without hypein' my words, that i scheduled more production orders for my clients on a month interval than using any other Daw. :wow:

I'm not against the other daws, because you can make music with any of them, but this daw has the less steps for achiving any production task. You can even stretch, pitch/tempo,transpose & tune just with right click menu, without the necessary of other plugin to do that (so this is one of the examples of why this daw has the less steps of achiving somethin')

You will have to look for another DAW if cracked software is your priority, Studio One i hear is ok, but ask others about it.

DAW#s are like golf clubs. what works for one person might not work for another

Ive tried then all Protools, Logic, Reaper, Sonar & Cubase, for me Cubase is my DAW of choice after years of "try before buy" i finally bought Cubase and for me its the best . it does what i want how i want and ive yet to ( knock on wood) loose and songs or catastrophic crashes. most of what i do is just guitar bass drums ( SD2) and some keys now and again. if i need a loop ill just play it myself.

personally if u wanna get a good taste of what cubase is about there are versions of cubase 5 out in the wild that run longer then 24 hours to really get your feet wet.

keep in mind everything has a learning curve. but nice thing about Cubase ive found there is more then one right way to do things

and personally i LOVE Cubase 7

    ez

i use Logic (MAC) & FL Studio (PC) since 5 years and i change my daw cause FL was just for pc but great daw !! and Logic was very good but very unstable (Bugs every days) so this years i try cubase 7 and now i use it every days and very stable and great tools to make composition/Rec session or Mixing & mastering all in 1 and all vst work on it cause it's a standard format for all plugin . you can try the demo here is the link:

    http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/cubase/trial.html

    best daw for my :)

I really love Cubase 7 too, but only as a second option after S1. Cubase 7 have a ton of great features and etc. but man... the workflow in achiving some production tasks, it feels sooo slow... I have to get through so much steps to get somethin' that i would do blindly fast with S1. I'm really a big fan of Cubase 7, the mixer is so cool, chord assistent, etc. but... (at least for me) have a slow workflow...

Ok, there is a lot of praise of studio 1. I might have to take a look at it
But can anyone tell me what are its weaknesses? Every daw has some, so what is studio 1's?

Devoted Reaper user. After lots of praise, i decided to try Studio 1. DAW is nice. But as a guitarist, I usually work with plugin chains. One thing that puts me off is that plugin management in Reaper is better. Firstly, S1 did not detect all my plugins like Reaper did. Some other issues like browsing, sorting were there.
But other than that, for my limited purpose S1 is appealing, not the least visually.

For me Studio One 2.6 is unstable and uses too much of my computer resources. I use Cubase at the moment and it's very self explanatory. I can suggest watching the MacProVideo on Cubase 5 and you'll be all set with the basics. Anything else can be found in the manual or you can open a thread on a particular function you want to know more about. I did so with polymeters but apparently nobody knows how to set this up and Logic is the only application that makes this easy like it should be.

yeah, thats the thing, I really dont like the way studio 1 looks. I mean, dont get me wrong, of course thats not the most important thing. But than again it is a daw, something I m gonna be looking at at least 5 hours a day. If it was just a plugin I wouldnt care the least if it looked like some vintage analog gear, like a space shuttle, or like a happy sausage. But with a daw I ll have to consider it.

I own Live Suite 9 and I'm really satisfied about the performance and the countless possibilities.
Mostly because now Live does support two monitors, I use already this one as Ableton beta tester.
What is your problem with Live, or what for features other DAW's (Cubase etc) offer you better than Live does miss?
