    Hi there !
I need a bass sound dub
a lot of vst patches (sub bass, deep tones) have a clicky attack
I tried to set it from the ADSR but nothing
is there a way to avoid this problem??
I like this kind of bass sound, but at the same time I would get the chance to play "staccato" with no click
    is there a way???
    thxs bye

With an envelope you should be able to lengthen the attack a little to get rid of the click. You can also use a transient designer to lower the attack portion and mess with the sustain. The latter is generally a faster way to get results though both are valid. You can also sample the timbre and cut off the click manually but you should be able to achieve these results with an envelope or transient designer.

If you increase attack time you should get rid of the click otherwise there is something wrong! :wow:

First be sure you have a little amount of release to avoid the end of the subs to click. Then you can MAYBE give it a little less attack but the result lies in the rolloff of the high frequencies using EQ. (up to 500hz)
It really depends on what you're after. Attack in subs is pretty common to let it stand out.

This is the best answer for the topic, the Low-Pass filter will resolve your problem instantly  , good shot Xsze :mates: , the transient shaper and other options are way too much for this kind of task. :bleh:

An envelope is too much for this task? Really??? That's about as simple as it gets and doesn't require any external VSTs. I didn't suggest a low pass because I assumed that everyone does this to their bass to get them to sit in the proper frequency range.

    I say keep the click!!!

There's nothing like a clicky double bass drum in death metal, that's one of my favs!!!
Too much boom or thud ruins it for me.

In the past i used a kind of vst rompler, like the StudioLinkedVST Trap Boomm Workstation and when i've loaded one of the 808 clean kicks kits, you get a wierd click in the front of the kick (which it is not a part of the kick punch, it's just maybe a sampling artifact sounding as a ugly click) and because the envelope in that rompler is useless, it comes handy a low-pass filter and voila, everything sounds as it should. A Eq is not only for "get the instruments sit in the proper frequency range", it's also a good surgical cleaning tool (when the situation really ask for it) and if the guy really intended to have a clean sub sound without any kind of high-frequency in the top, he could just roll off the highs and everythin' would sound clean. (if he intended also to have somethin' in the top, he could just layer somethin in the top of that sub sound.)

If lopass/attack doesn't solve your click, then it might be also a case of DC offset, in which case, do a hipass of 5-10hz maybe.

There are usually two places where clicks (rapid amplitude changes) occur - Start and End.
Increase attack time AND increase release time (with sustain turned up).
That way you get rid of clicks.

Sometimes Filter is set on the Velocity... A lot a people (damned...) use a computer keyboard and put all at 127 (Max Midi Value) putting down the value and putting a gain on audio can avoid this problem... also, the other advises are also nice... If you can't fix maybe play higher notes should also fix and resample, reprogram and play in the correct range... There's a lot way to fix that's kind of problem ;) find the trick if you really like this sub ;)

Maybe choose a really short Trigger (really short noise or closed fast hihat very short) and set a sidechain on this sub bass to reduce the click also, it can work

Also, go the patch and see if the click is no one part of a layering of multiple oscilators : then you can cut off, reduce or sclupt it better.

If not like Xsze said, filter it ! maybe use the resonance to working on fundamental or harmonic (depend of the frequencies shared with the kick and the main bass line...)

If you think after filtering, the sub bass is not good, try to find another click for his attack to suit better what yo u have in mind ;)

I agree, nothing like a sub click to turn into lovely percussion to wonder around the top. put some echo boy, or even get the very highs of it and BOOSt with a lot of resonance. You wont even need any drums
