Im lookin to step up my security with not alot of false positives and keygen deletions. thanx in advance.

 

There are already topics open about this, use the search feature. And there is no "best", there is only best for you.

 

Vstplugins wants to have internet access to check if it is using a legit serial number.

 

I answer here because I did not before. To me, Comodo Internet Security is the best as for now.

 

I just use sandboxie and I run an AV manually whenever I need it...so far the best (ie most efficient) one I found is emsisoft's anti-malware [aka A-squared antivirus]

 

keygens will often flag up with your anti virus software because of the way they are written, it's what is called a false positive, just disable your anti virus for a few minutes so you can use it. If you have downloaded a proper release then you should not have any problems. If you are downloading binaries, then that is another story

 

Will a VST stop / shutdown if you deny it access to 'call home'?

 

They may start sulking. Vst's usually phone home from within your DAW, so block your DAW, If the Vst has a standalone (and you use it) then you need to block that as well
