My favorite reverb on vocals is halls.

I know plates are more common because of how short they are but I personally love tracks with less instrumentation that saves room for the vocals and efx.

If you are going for a lush hall vocal sound. What are your chains and go-tos?

    Mine:

    OTB- Bricasti :)

    ITB- Rverb for sure.

Kinda liking the new VSS4 "Rich Hall". As usual, I'll have a new favourite reverb next week.

AAR for more control over everything, Ableton reverb for simple stuff (in ECO mode).

WTF AAR the shaping options are damn nice. very Gated reverb on plucks awww

@ OP, do you have an example for a very lush sounding vocal?

Only cause this came up on my throwback playlist like 5 mins ago and thought the vocals in this song were pretty good and this was a good example.

I've been the building operator in a special needs school for 21 years.
It has a large 3 section therapy pool: the ceiling is 25 feet high and the pool is about 125 by 75 feet, so large acoustic chamber with ceramic tiled walls.
During the summer the pool is drained and the air handling units turned off so it becomes a perfect reverb chamber.
School rentals are allowed in off hours so I will rent the pool during summer break and do different mikings with guitar amps, vocals, etc, as well as looking to use it as a post effect device :woot:
Might even get find that elusive Motown wall of sound

Lucky bastard. Wish I could make some live echo chambers. You will generously gift us the IRs of that when it's made right?

check this out at 1:30 too

I wish I saw the chain and gear for his verb they were using on this track in this video.

this is a overview and a guess but it sounds like they scooped out the lows and low mids and are using a hall or large plate reverb into a delay.

Any reverb and any delay can do the 1.30 thing. What´s the problem? BTW it´s Room no Hall.

what kind of room? I thought it sounded like a hall because of how long the tail is.

and may you give me a example of a chain?

room --> into quarters side chained into the vox?

any other things you tried as well that helps like exciters, saturation on the return bus as well?

sounds like a ROOM, there is no modulation going on in the verb. Its just room.

take a dry male vocal, add valhallaROOM, EQ and you should have it. Also keep in your mind, you are hearing the output in studio, which always sounds always weird compared to whats going on with headphones.
