After several years of silence, ASIO4ALL developer is back with news: new version is in process and fresh website.

16 February 2022 - ASIO4ALL 2.15 Final

CHANGES SINCE VERSION 2.15 (BETA 3):

• Workaround for Oculus VAD.
• Fix crash with Blackmagic Design DeckLink driver.
• Avoid using “Stereo Mix” input in default configuration.
• Fix erratic behaviour of “Force 16 bit” – option, especially when WDM driver does not support a 16 bit sample data format.

19 JANUARY 2022: SOME CORRECTIONS TO VERSION 2.15 (BETA 3)

  • Fix encoding and spelling errors in the Chinese and Turkish localization
  • Installers are now digitally signed. Ironically, this may trigger a Smart Screen warning – while distributing totally unsigned executables – year after year in the past – did not. Go Microsoft!
  • As there were no functional changes, the Beta 3 download links have just been updated, without a version number change.

20 December 2021: Version 2.15 (Beta 3).

  • Resolve potential Windows 11 compatibilty issues.
  • Fixes and workarounds for on-board audio on newer AMD systems (like Ryzen 5000).
  • Fix a number of issues related to WaveRT packet support.
  • Fix GUI visual distortion on high DPI display.
  • Improve backwards compatibility with Windows 8 (no official support, though!)

21 APRIL 2021: VERSION 2.15 (BETA 2).

CHANGES SINCE VERSION 2.15 (BETA 1):

  • Fix: Sometimes, sample data was truncated to 16 bits on high resolution devices.
  • Fix: “Internal Heap Overflow” – message with 32 bit applications on some systems. 64 bit programs were not affected.
  • Fix: Sometimes a cryptic string was appearing as USB device channel name inside host ASIO settings.
  • Changed AsioGetChannelInfo() to group channels by individual device.
  • GUI now showing the audio data format currently used, instead of the capabilities, for any active item.
  • Further GUI cleanup

11 MARCH 2021: VERSION 2.15 (BETA 1).

• Major update, therefore in beta first!
• This version supports Windows 10 only. Older versions of the OS may (and likely will) still work, but we no longer claim to be supporting them.

CHANGES SINCE VERSION 2.14:

• Workaround for bug in Windows 10 Creators Update reverted, as Microsoft meanwhile have fixed the original issue.
• ASIO4ALL now aware of Intel(R) SST and working around several issues
• Refactoring WaveRT implementation for both, pull mode and polling. Fix an issue that in 64 bit mode ASIO4ALL would not use the position register, but rather the legacy mechanism
• Improve support for WaveRT packet devices. USB audio class 2.0 devices should work much better now
• Some audio devices were not detected by ASIO4ALL
• Full Unicode support for visuals
• GUI now also works with higher screen resolutions
• Further GUI cleanup
• Instruction manual now online, accessible through a GUI help button
• Completely dropped support for “ReWuschel” and Off-line settings. You could still re-enable “ReWuschel” by setting a registry key, but who really still uses software that is more than 20 years old?

I just post news and updates, because:
- Software is good and it has high(est) quality;
- I recommend this for your workflow/performance boost and production/engineering works ;
- I really need this (and probably you too) and it helps or will/may help you in many cases;
- Either it is Cheap and Free but Pro and it is a good/better/the best alternative;
- Or it is expensive but it is maximally worth;
- Not mentioned here yet; But don't worry, I usually try to check websites always, even rare ones, and post news here as soon as possible;
- I like huge changelogs/release notes about performance, stability, annoying bugs getting fixed, new usefull features;
- ....

 

2017 update was a one-bug fix for Win 10 Creators, so it is ver 2.14
2015 update had three fixes/improvements (Ver 2.13)
But 2014 was a year of 2 updates, huge significant and smaller one with several bug-fixes.
And so on.

I agree that it would make sense that it'd be old-OS compatible, and will be testing it on Win7Ultx64 when it's out of beta.

 

I have already switched to FlexASIO one year ago because of some Win10 bugs, will check new version, thanks!

 

Installed after removing Magix ASIO driver, registry settings & reboot. No problems with Reaper 6.25 & Pro Tools 12.5. Studio One 5.2 took multiple tries to change ASIO settings. Three of which caused a Not Responding error in the main program, not ASIO4all.

Edit:
Other than the initial problem with Studio One, no performance issues through multiple mix sessions (19 so far) in Reaper.

Next will be the VSTi performance with this driver. Not expecting anything surprising to honest.

IMHO the ASIO4ALL developer(s) should be given many thanks & applause for this freely available driver.

ASIO for ALL can be used in a pinch, on a weak laptop, in a hotel, when you need some performance to get something accomplished. Sheeesh...

I've used asio4all for many years,one of the annoying bugs is that pro-tools would not boot when you have asio4all as an entry(=means installed at all)
