Getting pretty Good results with VSS4 so far,
it comes as a much more Refined and Improved version of VSS3..

Nice Depth and Coloration, Lush Warm and Good,
    nice one!

Placebo effect, it can fool any human in the world. Big companies are taking benefit of this and give you plugins with ultra realisic 3D looking GUIs. People also think lower priced plugins are of lower quality. Every new plugin is the best plugin for 2 months :hahaha:, especially if it is from a big brand.

Until then, why not just use any cheap controller that has the same amount of buttons and pots as you need?
I mean, as long as all the CCs and everything are open for editing in the controller.
I love that we can do this with MIDI.

sorry for a moment i was thinking about this old type of music where they used "guitars" and "microphones".

but yes, when you think about 5.1 formats my comment might be a bit questionable, because that used to be digital in 1998, too.

i tend to forget its 6 channels capabilities because i´ve only seen people using the sys 6000 as reverb in classic mastering rigs.

it depends. if you had powercore systems before and you like it, you get quite a lot of stuff for a reasonable price.

and if you are a windows user you should not care much about the plug-ins beeing 32 bit. there were rumors that the latest windows update might break the firewire driver but it has been proven false. right now all powercore products work fine under windows 10 x64.

the idea of using accelerator cards is that you can keep your old and slow computer.

so if you have a top modern 28 core machine you are not benefiting much from adding a 14 years old DSP card.

but if you have a 14 years old computer and just some more reverb, adding a powercore or an older protools system card will be more econominic than buying a new PC.

I don't see how REAPER has an ugly GUI, it looks great to me, and I'm quite picky about those things. Certainly better than Pro Tools and Ableton, and on the same level as new Cubase, Logic and Studio One.

@PopstarKiller I see that the arrangement window of the Reaper gui looks nice, similar to Logic or Cubase in colour, but if you drag on the channels or drag the horizontal/vertical bars for the arrangement window, do the channels on the left change size and reveal more buttons from when they are smaller?
Also, in Logic there is an upright mixer channel present to the left of the arrangement too, and will display whatever track channel you are on so that you don't have to open the mixer page or open a new window.
My point is that looks and functionality are different things.

Then you have bad sense of graphics design. Reaper looks like windows 98, which may or may not be a problem for someone. No matter what theme you use, it still feels like a colored version of windows 98.
Reaper can mimic that. Customization is one of the most loved feature of Reaper.

    Cool, man!
    What about:
So it means that you can reduce the whole arrangement page, and the track header bits will shrink but still show a meter and a horizontal fader. Or just the meter.

That's a subjective statement. And no, it looks nothing like Windows 98. Have you ever actually used Windows 98? It was all boxy and flat. REAPER isn't, outside of some of the windows. It looks smooth and pleasant without being distracting.

Yeah, they do. Though that's not really what I meant by saying REAPER looks great.

In Reaper 6.25 session with 24 audio tracks:
    13 instances of MD4HD = 29% CPU load
With 1 instance of VSS4HD added CPU load jumped to 53% (random clicks & pops)
With 2 instances of VSS4HD added CPU load jumped to 75% (stuttering, click & pops)

MD4HD & VSS4HD are the only ones worthy of consideration IMHO. In their current state I will have to give a firm thumbs down.

I've no clue why, but on my outdated system (i7 3770, Win7, Reaper) they perform way better:

    1 MD4 ≈ 0,8%, 13 times ≈10%
    1 VSS4 ≈ 3,2%, 2 times + 13x MD4 ≈ 17%

Kepp in mind the percentage has to do with SR and buffer size, so it's not about the real numbers but the difference with and without VSS4.
With two of them the consumption raises by 70% here and by 260% on your system.
Looks like these plugins have some problems with specific systems.

    Using the same project:
14 Instances of Summit Audio Grand Grand Channel
2 instances of SSL Native Flex Verb
1 instance of Softube Tube Delay
1 instance of chandler Limited Zener-Bender

Total RT CPU = 19% (with browser open & replying to this post, Windows Defender running)
    No glitches.

My home system uses the Xeon equivalent of your CPU I do believe. Xeon E5-1620 V2. 64GB Registered ECC (13-13-13-32)

I am really happy with the performance. 3900x 32 gig, win 10 mediocre optimized for music production. 48khz 16 samples.

~0.20 -0.22 per instance (10 instances) of MD3. Which I am interested in. Randomized presets and I made sure everything is heavily in use (every eq band, compressor etc ) I am writing this (Browser) and listening/watching a YouTube video review of acustica audio sienna rooms

and out of curiosity I did now the same with MD4HD
    not bad at all.
