    Isn't Loudmax a reverse engineered "clone"of Waves L1 or L2 (I forgot) ?

the funny thing is that some of the 18 years old powercore equivalents - which you can buy for about 100 euro including hardware accelerator - actually sound better, like MD3 for example.

    the hardware is "better".

because when you use the hardware in your otherwise analog mastering studio to add some reverb, the dry signal doesnt get ADC/DACed. (!)

there is not much in an L1 which would need to be reverse engineered.

you are not totally wrong and not totally right.

because sometimes a higher resolution or more processing power can actually help to make things better, and sometimes only a new architecture allows to create and emmit tools for a more affordable price than before.

for example when the system 6000 came out, a PC or mac would hardly have been able to calculate that kind of stuff.

btw. how do you guys like the GUI compared to the old metal tabs?

i think it was an example of really great design - and i wished the system preferences in MacOS and windows would look like those.

Is MD4 the Multiband Compression I've been looking for?
If you know what I mean ... [IMG]

None of which I think would even actually buy the plugin anyway, perhaps maybe a tiny fraction.

@obineq, I actually just got an older Mac Pro and noticed my local store has an old TC Powercore PCI Express card (new/old stock), for next to nothing. The TC site just shows older OS compatiblity for those prior to it being discontinued. The plugins are 32bit. Waste of time to try, you think?

    Awesome!
    That's what I call a Ninja release,
totally Unexpected, in the middle of the Night, Cut Throat before they even notice your Presence.. lol

-MD3: I don't see why they even call this a Multiband Compressor,
it does a whole lot of stuff, and the sound is actually pretty good/clean.

But with only three bands and no graphical representation, it's so limited it kinda fails at being a MB Comp.
    It's more of a Triple Band M/S Comp/Exp/Lim + EQ..

MD4: This is more of a MB Comp, at least it has 5 Bands..
But the threshold is limited to -25db (without defeat), and the scarce/small 5 meters display is not so handy.

The sound is good, but I don't see this replacing Blue Cat's MB-5 (old ver),
or FF Pro-MB, Ozone MB (Dynamics), Cakewalk LP-MB, DMG Multiplicity or any other soon..

VSS3: Not a reverb I ever used, but I kinda like it.
Not too different from say a Lexicon Rev, but with more Body/Warmth and some interesting/unique features.

However it cannot be tweaked as deeply/precisely as Lexicon PCM, and that killed it for me.
It's still a good alternative tho, Good Sound.

(if you're interested in Algo Revs, you could also check Sonnox Oxford Reverb, an Oldie but Goodie..
and yeah why not Aether, but that's different)

    VSS4: Ok that's more Interesting..
Seems to be an hybrid approach between Algo/Convolution Reverb,
but closer to the later with extended control alla LiquidSonics..

I will have to compare this with Reverberate 3/Bricasti, and see what it does in terms of Depth.
but yeah looking good so far!

-I agree TC was the shiznit in the early 00's,
but yeah they are kinda too late in the plug/daw game.
They still have the Fame tho, and that might sell some of that overpriced gear.. :trashing:

    In any case,
Thanks R2R for sharing this so fast! :phunk:

PS: And yeah, LCARS dude.. :deep_facepalm:
I don't fancy it too much, but for what the limited plugs offer it's usable.

Means, the hardware is 'worse' when you're working ITB because no DA-AD conversion? :winker:

I'm afraid I've lost my right to complain about ugly GUIs since I'm using Reaper and Valhalla Room.
