I'm finding difficulties to find a nice version of Kontakt 5 to work on Mac Catalina.
When I try to install Kontakt 6 it says "no previous installation found"

I used to install libraries easily before but I don't remember which version of Kontakt I had or if Im missing some component like (xQuartz, Xcode, etc..)

Any tip would be great, thanks !

Just maybe not with Catalina.

Because K6 is overwriting K5? It shouldn't do because they are named differently. Kontakt 6 is just called Kontakt whereas Kontakt 5 has the version number after it.
But you can always rename the standalone app if you need to.

 

After I install any standalone version of K5 and try to update (f.i: 5.5 to 5.6) the updater won't recognise the installed k5 or k6 won't also.
Actually I get a crashed messaged while installing any K5 but the program is working in standalone and in AU also.

 

K5 is not a previous version of K6
install kontakt player 6 first to enable your update installer.

 

The problem here is that K6 is not an update to K5 in terms of how the installer sees it. They are different programs. It sound like you have downloaded a K6 update only while you need a K6 full installer first. Once you have a full install you will then be able to install updates on top of it.

When you're on the sister site, search for "Kontakt 6 full" and "Kontakt 6 update" and you will notice the difference in file sizes. The updates will never work if you haven't installed the full package first.

 

I'm installing K5 just in order to install libraries. I mentioned about the updates just to enforce that any installer is being recognised in my computer, not even the official ones.

What about getting a nicnt file for 3rd party libraries? What app is the best y'all recommend for that?

 

@Nehal Nowadays the .nicnt should meet the requirements for emulating RAS2 encryption.
That is why it's not accepted to publish libs with self-made .nicnt files on the russian tracker; for a reason. In fact a couple.

You mean for libs that aren't "Powered by Kontakt"/play in the Kontakt player.
There are 3rd party libs that do, and 3rd party libs that don't.
But they will all load via Quickload anyway, which is what the lib dev intended when they didn't pay NI the license to show up in the Libraries Tab.

I always suggest not worrying about pics in the lib tab.
Although having bigger 100GB libs loadable only via Quickload will slow down the index scanning, so maybe make a .nicnt for those ones.
I don't recommend any add lib app, I make one myself IF I ever do this.

Having hundreds of libraries is why I don't bother with the Libraries Tab so much.
Rather make music.
