tbh(i'm not a mac user), i would wait until the apps have native support on m1. because regardless the good work that some software can have under rosetta, sometimes this can fail... and afaik, kontakt works under rosetta....

i don't know if you can understand, but i hope i made it clear

you can try a hackintosh maybe... but i'll definetly wait.

also, if you won't use logic, then you can try windows daw which are every other basically. also, with the software you said.

by the way, using a hackintosh, you can have both systems

that's good, but even with that i would wait. if you are going to do pro work, you need a reliable machine and at this moment, the m1 are not reliable alongside with the software

You won't get cracked Soundtoys on Mac as it's iLok and not cracked on Mac - you might get an ancient pre-iLok copy (v4) possibly but nothing recent (v5)

You can get good Black Friday deals though and get the whole bundle for a couple of hundred quid or you buy the bits you need for 29 each when on offer.

I do, my first intention was to buy one Mac Mini M1. But meanwhile I doubt that I would even buy one this year. :/

all the plugins/SW you mentioned doesn't natively support Apple Silicon M1 yet, and most likely neither your DAW

and buying "initial-transition" Mac when it's rather obvious those will be replaced by stronger, potentially cheaper in terms of price/performance ratio models soon, is something not worth the investment imo :dunno:

just to keep in mind - even if plugins would natively run on M1 (ARM architecture, not x86) - someone will need to crack their ARM binaries for you to run them natively and take advantage of the silicon...
no one has done it yet as it is a different architecture..
the future of cracked software on mac is extremely unknown, if you get a mac dont plan on using cracked plugins or software (also as mentioned above - modern iLok plugins never been cracked on mac)

you are running under rosetta which means you use the x86 cracked binaries of the plugins (unless some plugins dont require binary changes)
(izotope dont have native ARM versions, same with waves, you are using x86 not ARM)

x86 refers to 32-bit software, which no recent MacOS will run at all. Rosetta 2 runs 64-bit (x64) versions of Intel based software in emulation. I am running a wide variety of software from the sister site on an M1 Mini with excellent results. I would rate overall speed and stability as excellent, and vastly superior to older machines, even running in emulation. I agree however, that it's unlikely that we're going to see k's for ARM native versions in the near future, with the exception of apps that use only basic serial number protection.

so you can afford a new machine but not the software essentials.

True..It is running on Rosetta...I misread your reply ( I thought you meant nothing was working with M1 ..apology's)..
Even though it is using Rosetta the speed and performance is so much better than my 2018 mac

    Hmmm let's see...new M1 16gb = $800 while waves = quite a few grand...Yep that is :)

Probably, and while that instruction set doesn't specify data size, x86-64 or just x64 is the modern way to reference this. In today's 's world, x86 implies 32-bit. But I think we're straying a bit off-topic... :)
