Oh my it will take a long time to read all posts...
I couldn't agree more. Actually, you anticipated what I wanted to post.

Here some item that musicians (but also audiences) in the 80's couldn't forget:

    Keytar:

    Steinberger bass/guitar:

    Simmons Drums:

You're right. I lived those tracks when they climbed the charts, and I have wonderful memories of those long gone times.

    Right again.

And why? Let's try to launch Blinding Lights in 35 years, and see if your crowd that will be around 50 will shout and dance and sing like when you launch The Final Countdown or Take on Me.

I have not that much, but there was a time that I collected them too (also some rare 78 RPM from Elvis and others).
No more, not even using a turntable anymore. I prefer digital now.
    Great thread this one.

    Still just at page 3...

Jeanny 1 and 2 were really wonderful.

It was not so uncommon, maybe you know of Pink Project (Another brick in the wall and Mammagamma)

Right, example the copiright issue with Chic.

I mixed them too, Whishing within How Long - Lipps Inc first and then Heartbeat - Thomas Leer.

There are a few gems in this post. some, to me at least are not mainstream or not very known, maybe because I am from a different are of the world. as for which are still relevant or not I guess it's subjective. I tend to listen to music from the 60's till now and I was born early 70's but some people only listen to was is current or mainstream.
anyway here are some songs that I like and are dance music

"Let the Music Play" was ranked 43rd on the 2009 VH1 Special 100 Greatest One-Hit Wonders of the 1980s. Some mark "Let the Music Play" as the beginning of the "dance-pop" era.

I don't know if this charted but it still rocks to this day.

Fame reached number one on the Billboard dance chart for one week. If this doesn't move you I don't know what will? it's a blend of the end of the 70's disco sound, and the new emerging synthesizer sounds of the emerging 80's.

This was the second #1 by the Boys. now remember boys & Gals, do not SIN

besides.. maybe my friend @The Pirate was right when he said i took your sarcasm the wrong way
so,if thats true .sorry my bad ,and all cool here, now im looking at your last reply i can agree on
c movies/ b movies ..all were good i believe you ,we didnt rate those movies back in the day
until IMDB started to fill up with critics Nerds

@The Pirate ,awesome i didnt know voyage voyage had many versions,im now collecting them ,
got the extended version and some other trance mixes ,they sounded fantastic
(chopping tree is hard and i like taking care of trees and garden stuff ,but breaking light bricks is good test for fist power )

well ,lets continue 80s stuff with one of the greatest producers in germany and i consider him as my top 5 producers in germany
fancy was always had that certain vocals and music that i payed attention to when it comes to extended versions/12 inch versions
they are always had that extra melodies that i enjoy and im sure there few of us who dig fancy songs (and who can forget his awesome single with producer david brandes /jo flynn creating ''D.I.S.C.O'' album which i consider one of the best fancy album in 90s
    bolero

    flames of love -1988

this should be for 90s thread but since im mentioning fancy so why not get some
D.I.S.C.O lust for life - extended version 1999

as of march 2021 fancy has new album and it sould come out ,album produced by team33
(supposedly louis rodriguez studio is involved in the album so it should be typical fancy style and i cant wait to hear it

after modern talking split in 1986-7 after 6 albums ,producer dieter bohlen decided to create blue system group
with louis rodriguez /kohler/micha/detlef ,with him singing the verse and kohler/micha/detlef singing the chorus and choirs
and they all created 13 albums and every album was experimental sounds and tracks ,
samba style was presented with ''sorry little sarah '' on the first album but rest of the album had the typical MT sound
    but with faster rhythms
magic symphony extended version (From the 3rd album 'Twilight' )

    voodoo nights

    G.T.O

for those who remember group FIVE STAR ,they had this cool song

Forgive my laziness. Would have been even lazier to have just posted some of my favourite acid trax from the late 80's, but plumped for this oft' overlooked classic. After I posted I read up on them and was quite gobsmacked with the Easybeats link. Then went back down one of my favourite down-under rabbit holes and checked out some Oz/NZ garage punk freakbeat monsters from the 60's.. The Elois, The Missing Links, The Throb etc etc.

This song broke my hearing on the right ear.. Listened to it over and over again on headphones, till it happended..

This is so '19' by Paul Hardcastle or vice-versa?

Why no Pet Shop Boys 'West end Girls' yet? To me, this is one of the most iconic 80ies songs.

And about DM: Photographic is just a great dance song. People used to say DM is not dance music, but hey, I can dance to it and Dave too!

I can tell you that Aldo and Jerry came up with and released, "Al-Naafish" on Cutting before "19" was released. Indeed, the official release of "19" took place 18 months after "Al-Naafish" was being played all over the city (NYC) and on 92KTU. Aldo Marin had a mix show on 92 KTU on weekdays at 4 pm (Paco's Supermix), and on weekends live from the Elegante Nightclub in Jersey where he was a resident DJ. Aldo was replaced on 92KTU by the Latin Rascals.

Correct 100%. Indeed, some of Harrow's songs were sang by Tom Hooker who also had a big club hit himself with "Looking for Love."

The use of "ghost" singers was very common in the dance music productions. Blackbox, the italo-house group, was another example. They use a French model, instead of Martha Wash, as the face of the group.

Note: Tom Hooker later released several singles under the moniker "Tam Harrow". The Tam Harrow character is a satire of Italo-Disco artists like Den Harrow.:hahaha:https://www.discogs.com/artist/3831555-Tam-Harrow

Edit: The song "Looking for Love" by Tom Hooker sounds similar to another one that I can't remember now. I think it was either by Albert One or Den Harrow or maybe another artist. If anyone remembers it, please post it.

    Edit 2:
Here is the song (the Spaniards stealing from the Eye-talians who were stealing from the Americans)

This song was on heavy rotation down in Miami's clubs and radio stations. NYC never gave it a chance. Miami did more for dance music than any other city in the USA, maybe in the whole world.
