    Re. 32-64 bit x86-x64 VST hosting;

I'm completely new to Reaper 64-bit and want to know about the bridging features.
I perused the manual and see mention of various bridging setting options.

Is it necessary / better to use jBridge for this purpose, or is the built-in function in Realer adequate?

    Thanx.

Just put your 32 bits plugins in the Reaper vst folder and forget about more bridging.

some of them have no x64 version? (eg last Nexus cracked, Spectrasonics Athmosphere, it has a nice Sine default sound)

and there is freeware which was never ported to x64 and never will.

    and there iis nostalgia maybe?

Did OP production/ use a DAW before? Maybe thats why he uses x86 vsts.

    To the topic:
Reapers vst bridge is one of the best if not the best. Its fast and reliable (i wish ableton developed something like this, but okay) I would def use Reapers bridge!

I know you didn't mean it this way, but just to clarify in case it confuses the OP or others... nothing goes in Reaper's plugins folder (i.e. [reaperpath]\plugins), except for Reaper built-in plugins.

But yea, drop the 32bit plugins in any folder that is in your VST plug-ins path setting in preferences->Plug-ins->VST, and away you go! No thinking required :D

Yes, little DAW experience, only the following to test out my ever-expanding hoard of VST's:
    - Using PC Win7+10
    - Previous experience only Hermann Seib - VSTHost
    - Cantabile Lite (include jBridge integration
    - Lots of old/legacy 32-bit.x86 instruments & effects from H2O etc. * +some recent re-releases from Steinberg

Yeah, there are still some plugs that I miss as well.. but I made a decision a few years back to standardize and weed out a lot of plugs.
Do you mean Buffer Overrun? Yeah, that is a very cool plugin, I can get close with a few things in a chain but there is something about the character of that plug that's very cool. I personally miss Spectral delay by NI, no idea why that didn't get ported over to 64 considering it sounds amazing.
Bitwig handles 32-bit plugs effortlessly BTW.

    So, to sum it up:

Nope. Since I'm using Reaper jBridge was never necessary again and it ain't better either because you have to configure it, not so with Reaper's bridge (default settings are working perfectly fine).

Absolutely. So far I didn't have a single problem. Could be that there are some exotic pluggies which cause problems, but as long as everything's running fine, who cares?

BridgeWize (https://ddmf.eu/bridgewize/) puts a wrapper around 32-bit plugins so they work on 64-bit. I'm using it on S1 5.1 on Windoze 10. Never found one that it doesn't work on so far.
