    Hello Guys

This is a new track I did. worked on it for three weeks lots of part adding and removing (it drove me mad) anyway I hope you like it. I guess it has a certain 80's feel that I Like.

any help making it better or critique is welcome. the more feedback the better. especially since Mixing is giving me headaches.

NB no loops in this track except two percussion loops that appear briefly

Thank you for your time and best regards.

The stereo bass is causing audible phase problems and at least the synth at 0:40 is clashing with it (freq-wise).

If you can, separate the bass into a sub and mid, keep the sub in mono and let the mid/top bass have some stereo info cause its cool. If you can't maybe use iZotope Imager(the multiband one), completely sum the sub freq to mono and reduce the stereo width of the rest a bit. Otherwise, I really like the track!

(Also the arp right before the end gets masked pretty heavily by the brass+string pads at the end, I'd try automating its panning)

sounds great. my 63-years-old ears didn't pick up on the phasing. nice work.

I feel like the song is either a bit too long or lacking some breathing room, a cooldown moment, it's too intense for too long for me. But I like the style :)

Interesting. There does seem to be some issue with that bass as @No Avenger has remarked.

Personally for basses like that, I like to part them out.

The buzzy saw bass is it's own instrument contains stereo information but its' fundamentals mostly live between 200Hz and 500Hz before it slopes off. So my filter in the synth is usually at 250Hz or somewhere around there, envelopes to taste. Then on an other track I put a synthesizer that is a mono square or close to it with close parameters that is mono and blend them on a buss.

You don't really get much out of stereo information until about 270Hz, but I am always find myself in the fist composition phase trying to get too much out of one patch/synth it always turns into a clusterfuck at the end though.

Less idea but still workable is to just use a mid/side EQ and HP the sides at 300Hz and boost the mids to taste somewhere between 140-250Hz, don't get carried away use your ears. Some slight compression deep threshold/low ratio to even it out transparently and it usually passes after some tweaking.

I like it, reminds me of late 80s-90s video games for some reason. Might be confirmation bias from the image though.

thank you for listening. it is about a chase though hence the relentless bass and Arp.

Thank you for listening and for the input. yeah this track started with the bass patch and the synth Arp. after the input from you guys I converted the bass to mono but it got much quieter and lost the Impact I have yet to figure out the issue. thxs again.

    -> pan law.

I've heard there're many gradiations between too wide and mono, but that's probably just hearsay. :winker:

Ok pal I hear you. it doesn't have to be mono but maybe a little stereo (narrow stereo)
maybe I should try and fix the synth patch then. thxs

That's exactly why I feel you should drop the bass synth and drums at some point and have a proper "breakdown". Imagine the runner thinking they got away/managed to find a hiding spot to cooldown and then suddenly the pursuit/chase picks up again with all guns blazing. My explanation is corny, I know, but all that's to say, I think adding a breakdown could give your track an edge!(Maybe a halftime section!)

(Also, I got to reiterate, I really like the aesthetic of the track!)

I am glad you Liked it and yes you are right. I mean I have kind of a "breakdown" but it is only 8 measures and not too calm maybe (it's where the 2nd percussion enters) thank you once again.
