Here how a well formatted .nicnt file should be:

It is from one of my Kontakt libs. Use it as a template to generate the new .nicnt for your library substituting:
Name of the lib - Comany name - SNIPD number - RegKey name.
Take the above datas from the old .nicnt.

Build the new nicnt in a plain .txt file and save it with .nicnt extension.
Trash the old .xml file of the library from Service Center folder and re add the lib with Kontakt 5.
    Done.

NO! it's f*** selfmade peace of shit with a lot of problems!

it's because you have old format nicnt file.
    delete created xml files.
edit nicnt and paste this (replace current info from <Product version="4"> to </Product>):
    Code:
      <Product version="3">

Ok, I did it and it finally showed within Kontakt 6. But now the problem is it doesn't find the .ninct file, no image and gives me this missing file message:

Alright, it's working. Only thing missing is the image of the library. How to fix that?

    Here's the old .ninct code:

    this a part of code.
ok, if this file is so secret...

your old nicnt contains image and special symbols in code.
when you editing nicnt with text editor you corruptting this code.
use hex editor to modify nicnt file.

In your example there were HU and JDX codes. Did you use the same codes for multiple libraries? I'm just curious if it could work.

So, I had a look with his "original" .nicnt file and it does not work even in v6.0.3, only appeared in Kontakt 5.6.0
It means it has nothing to do with 6.5.x treating libraries any different.
This .nicnt file is not correct (if it's corrupted by mistake or intentionally, I can't say). And it even has a weird line:
    <Nic0ntin />

If you delete that line, the wallpaper disappears in 5.6.0
I guess this isn't from sister site but from different source.

Any homemade .nicnt can serve for adding it, only the wallpaper you have to create, here on AS there are topics with creative works ready to use.

Whah ...?!? There is no "new format" -- .xmls are created via Kontakt v5.6 (or, in my case, via v5.6.6) when you add a library. v6.5.0 and up has no bearing on this. And if you really think this is true, then I invite you to remove all your library .xmls from your Service Center folder and see if your libraries still show up in Kontakt v6.5.x.

For the OP, this is what I did (and I recommend you do, as well):

    1) if you're not using Kontakt v5.6.6 to add libraries, I strongly suggest you track it down and replace v5.6 immediately. Some people are reporting problems adding libraries via v5.6 that don't show up in v6.5.x. v5.6.6 is the last version released that you can use to add libraries with.

    2) I've tried the latest version of Kontakted (v4.5, I think) and had serious issues with it on Mojave. Maybe it works better in Catalina or Big Sur, but every .nicnt I made with it doesn't work. Track down v1.9 (I believe it's on the sister site), which is a bit buggy, but manages to create usable .nicnts ... at least for me.

    3) Go into v5.6.6, remove your problematic library from the Library tab via the pulldown.

    4) Remove the .xml from your "Application Support/Native Instruments/Service Center" folder.

    5) Generate a new .nicnt file for your library via Kontakted v1.9. It will also force you to create a wallpaper to go with it (I just dragged my pre-existing ones into the wallpaper creator) and both will appear on your desktop when you hit "Generate". You can throw away the generated wallpaper. Put the .nicnt into the appropriate library folder.

    6) Re-add the library to Kontakt v5.6.6. It may crash. Don't worry about it. Check your "Application Support/Native Instruments/Service Center" folder to see if a new .xml was created. Sometimes, it doesn't create one. In that case, you can either ignore it and move on to the next step or try steps 3 and 4 again, just to be safe. I think, out of my 93 Kontakt libraries, two or three just never generated an .xml file, no matter what I did. Maybe this is what @Talula was talking about?

There's a slight chance you may also notice that, after re-adding your library, another library suddenly blanks out of your Library tab. That's bad news -- it means Kontakted generated a .nicnt file that has the same SNPID number as a pre-existing library in your collection (the one that suddenly blanked out). I notice that Kontakted v1.9 isn't great at generating random SNPID numbers, so you'll occasionally get this issue. Immediately remove the library you just added from Kontakt 5.6.6 using the Library tab command and throw away the Kontakted-generated .nicnt file and the newly-generated .xml file for that library. Try steps 5 and 6 again -- all your libraries (at least the ones that v5.6.6 can read, which will include all your self made ones) should now show up without any problems.

    7) Your library should now show up in v6.5x, as well as your pre-existing custom wallpaper.

If you're still having this issue, even after all the rigmarole detailed in these posts, then you have an entirely different issue on your hands: there isn't supposed to a .nicnt file. That's right, even though you had a custom .nicnt file for a long time, and it showed up without incident in every version of Kontakt up until now, v6.5.x will cause conflicts with this. If this is the case, you just remove the library in v5.6.6 via the Library tab pulldown, trash the .xml file and move the .nicnt file out of the library folder. Now, try re-adding the library in v5.6.6 with no .nicnt file in that library's folder. If it adds, there was never meant to be a .nicnt file (though your library will behave as if there was one, including loading your custom wallpaper).

Yes, but for everybody else who has Kontakt libraries that don't use the "RAS3 authsystem", the .xmls are still used, and if they're not present in the Service Center folder, then the library won't show up in any version of Kontakt 6.
