    Hi. Do you know good learning resources for FM synthesis?

    Highly variable as most FM-synths have different toplogies.

    However, the original DX7 manual has a very concise introduction and various programming strategies: http://synthzone.com/midi/yamaha/dx7/dx7-man.pdf

    I remember NI's FM8s manual being a decent start as well, though given my memory I'm not too sure.

    Or, just be Brian Eno.

    Back in the day I bought the Ensonique ESQ-1 instead of the DX7 because of the 8 track sequencer. Although I have used both FM7 and FM8, it's still more a crapshoot to wrestle up a decent sound of my own from scratch with FM Synthesizers. Ohhhh, the mystery!

    Yes, I do. Go to AudioZ and enter "FM Synthesis" in search bar. There, you will find everything you need to get you started.

    the MacproVideo Native Instruments course #210 is centered on FM8, of course. But there is a lot of general info about FM synthesis to learn in it. It's "taught" by David Earl aka SFLogicNinja. tons of others, but that one should be relatively easy for you to find.

    FM synthesis? Easy. Fiddle with random buttons at random values, change algorithms, and try to get a coherent, or incoherent but interesting sound. I love FM synthesis! :wink:

    I do know how to program FM sounds, but to get a real grasp on it you should read the DX7 manual, at least the most important parts. It is not that complicated, actually.

    @SineWave :) Easy Peasy and Fun !!!
    I have just watched Warp Academy FM Synthesis course.

    PS. I have got "FM Theory and Applications" by Chowning. It should be the best resource :)
