No, I am saying that seeing someone trying to produce a cinematic style high end music video at the very beginning of their career makes me tend to not take them seriously, and I am saying that just because someone has a high quality music video does not make their music worth my while.

Try getting in touch with a local university film or visual student. Often students can get access to great equipment and are just as hungry as you to get a product out there. Win win colab:guru:

There are ways to get your hands dirty:winker:

Why does it matter where they are in their career if they have a "cinematic style" video. Sounds like you mad.

You can photograph and film most things to a professional level with a Canon DSLR entry level camera which is cheaper then my microphone.
My 5DMKIV is semi professional camera but you couldn't tell the difference between that and my Canon 500D which is a 1/4 of the price. Even cheaper if you buy 2nd hand.
    Definitely attainable.

I explained that in the post that you claimed to respond to. I am not "mad" at Skrillex or "mad" about this subject.

Russ's owns an ad agency that works with the label he's signed to. He brags about doing everything himself, when in reality he's well connected.

I own all my gear, and taught myself everything. I'm going to continue doing this shit on my own.

    I'll find a way.

Aronofsky's brilliant film Pi was made on a budget of $68,000, little of which seems to have gone to the technical aspect of the production. The storytelling, both of the script and what we see filtered through the lens and editing was enough to garner high praise and a hefty return on the investment. Extrapolate this to your own genre.

    You are definitely mad.
And the term mad doesn't literally mean mad.

We all think this at first.
Continue writing and recording if that is what you do.
The projects can always be revisited by another person down the the line who may take it to another level.
But from my shorter 30 years of professional experience I know it isn't the way.
But you do you, and you will work it out when you do.
    Nobody can tell us anything.
He's not. Not yet! I know him well enough to say this I hope.
By definition, arguing is to have a discussion. That is what He and I and the rest of us are doing, and yet I guarantee you we are all speaking from some sort of personal, industry experience.
I personally can only really talk from experience. There's no other way for me.
Now, coming from you, IE somebody talking about film industry cameras and quality, talking to the son of a well-known and well respected producer/director of his own production company, who arose via being a film-editor...you are talking some strange, nonsensical language!
Not only is that YT video of 'eye-brows Layton' a dub, and obviously not an ADC from the master (which was probably dubbed to High Band Umatic which was like production grade BetaMax, and it looks like the video was shot on a mix of Super8, maybe some film, and some video for the docu/handheld vibe stuff)...ANYONE can see this is high-grade for the time! haha Even on a 240p lossy-encoded YT video! :hahaha:
And the editing? In 1983? Top-fucking-notch! I'm not even sure if non-destrucive vt editing was 100% common-place then. It almost was at that time for regional broadcasting companies, but still flowing out.
You are some other type of strange.
I think you are maybe looking at a lot of things in life through a filter that is perhaps made from some illusions you have to let go of.
And I think some of us here have pointed some of them out which is great for other young people who may have dillusions about all this.
I think this thread is great for that reason.

Why it would be nice to hear where you at with your work is so that we can help in various ways.
A lot of the regulars in these rooms are very experienced and helpful, across lots of aspects of all this.
I think you are quite young compared to me, but it's not always the way.
I can't gauge you on the lack of awareness of certain things, as it's not always related to experience I suppose...
If we knew your age it might actually be more useful for communicative purposes.
And we might be easier on you if your music needs work! hehe Joking. Well, not joking. I mean...

All the good people found themselves getting paid for doing what they were already doing because they already loved it.
Do you love everything about why you are involved with music in some way...? x

    Papa @Lenny Belardo II
Awesome! I love it mate. I would have been buying this in 83, belie' dat!
WT actually F why this didn't make it so fucking huge?
But hey I know about the, uh, management side of things. I remember these things to bear witness, along with all I else I have witnessed.
Recog your eyebrows in your shots! So obvious even from the few pics I've seen.
Coz you can do the Jack Nicholson a bit too, innit?
Gonna be all over you for more of this great 80s vibe, mate.

We are the same person. You are just old and I am young. You can't tell either one us anything cause me nor you is changing or listening. So we should just stop the convo and agree to disagree.

On one level, we are all the same. But that sort of talk is not relevant to right here right now, in context of the thread title.
So other than that, no. Again you are talking nonsense, and this is objective now.

As it is with your film knowledge, as I have also pointed out to you.

There is no need to "agree to disagree either".
Many thanks for your time helping my life for the better in my thread...oh no, wait...

You were just offered what amounts to gold in the form of mentoring from those who are professionals and have been working in the industry sharpening their chops for possibly a full century or more of accumulated knowledge . All of us elders reading what you have expressed in scorning what would have amounted to a strong wind at your back are I am sure bowing heads in disbelief and looking to the heavens in a combination of WTF and woe; WTF that you feel it prudent to diss an outstretched hand and woe due to the fact that you're future in any creative field is in jeopardy if you cannot at least make compromise to absorb or consider disparate ideas not your own. John Donne's essay written in 1623 might express your plight...

    No man is an island,
    entire of itself;
every man is a piece of the continent,
    a part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
    Europe is the less,
as well as if a promontory were.
as well as if a manor of thy friend’s
    or of thine own were.
    Any man’s death diminishes me,
    because I am involved in mankind;
    and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
    it tolls for thee.
This...if the OP is still open to it.

Most marketing these days and videos are made on old phones but for you! You!!! You can only succeed if you have
    RED RANGER MONSTRO!

Never forget until you get a RED RANGER MONSTRO your music career will forever be doomed to failure!!! You shall never be successful! It isn't the quality of your music, your catchy hooks and melodies, your mixing and mastering it will always be the quality of your VIDEO!!!
And when you finally, finally have a RED RANGER MONSTRO and have mastered the cinematic quality video you always longed for some douche on a thread will judge your video and not your music and will be jealous of your cinematic quality video at the beginning of your career and be mad that someone had the audacity to use cinematic quality for their music videos and won't like you for it!!!!!
But they also could just be so lame and petty they probably won't like your music for any reason they can find especially if it has achieved more then anything they have done but definitely this time it is your cinematic quality video!

    In other news.
Rebecca Black put out a new version of that song this year.
Most people here will be mad but look at how many people aren't.

You could also check out the movie Primer which was shot on a budget of 7000$ and became one of the most popular and critically acclaimed time travel movies. They didn't have enough money to shoot scenes two times, which is why a few of them seem a bit off. Despite the limiations they hit it big with this movie.
